Converting to PDF using Celtx adds pages?

So, I just passed 100 pages, and decided to convert to PDF and upload that.

And I gained nearly 100 pages.

Go figure, eh? I don't know why it happened, but I do know that I like it =)

Anyone else having this - er - not-so-unwelcome problem?

No. Can't say that I've been blessed in that manner. ;)

What kind of script were you writing? I think that makes a difference in the way it's formatted.

I'm writing a screenplay, in just the basic format that they've got on there. Really weird, and I looked at the PDF - for some reason there are big blank spots in it.

Do you have your formatting set to go to a new page at every new scene? And as a followup, do you happen to have a really, really large number of scenes?

I dunno. It sounds like some type of issue with formatting inside the program or with the conversion itself. Did you cut and paste any of you script in from another program? Maybe Celtx is misreading some other type of break from somewhere else...

RE: Converting to PDF using Celtx adds pages?

I had that 'problem' last year, except that was because I wrote a large portion of it on an ancient computer, in word, so when I uploaded it onto Celtx, instead of having what I thought was 50 pages, I actually had 75 pages. And, having the option of at the end of a scene going on to another page, is NOT cheating, it is using logic, if you can do that, and it counts, and adds pages, then why not?

Yeah, you might have the "page break after scene" option checked, which will inflate the amount of pages you've got. Some people think it's fine, others think it's cheating, personally I don't care. I tried it out this morning before I wrote 12 pages and my 65 page script jumped to 137. It was kind of nice (and very tempting to submit and be done).

I wasn't implying that it was cheating (or at least I didn't mean to). Heck, I went back and set my format to that after I started as well. I was just troubleshooting possible reasons that the formatting could be different from what one would expect.

Although in retrospect, I did mean to add an emoticon after the scene comment to imply that I was mostly kidding. Your scene count would have to be ridiculous to almost double your page count. :P
