I Just Started OVER

Yup. Second week in April tends to do that to me, I've noticed...

I scrapped my script. I'm now writing a comic about... well, I'm not entirely sure yet, but I've got a thirteen year old kid named Connor and his half brother Kaden involved, and I don't knwo where it's going to go from there.

I'm concerned with the formatting for comic scripts. I've never written one before! How many panels per page is the norm? Can anybody give me any general pointers?

Thanks!

RE: I Just Started OVER

Hi!

I can share a couple of pointers. It's my first time writing a comic script too. Most pages have 4-6 panels; 8 should be an absolute max, because at that point things just get too small. Use splash pages (one big panel on a page) sparingly.

Formatting for the rest varies, but there is a good example under Writer's Resources.

Good luck!

RE: I Just Started OVER

I've never written a comic script before, either. This is my first one. I am currently following my long-held tradition of writing with a deck of cards. They are so useful! They tell me how many panels to put on a page and they help me design background characters. Very useful, since friends and family can be very undependable when it comes to that--and I always have a deck or two of cards right next to the computer.

I haven't quite started my story from scratch yet, but I did have to restart Chapter Two after I wrote myself into a wall. I did think about starting a new story, but I have been working on this one for years, and I really wanted to give my best for Kane. I love him too much to forget about him right now. Of course, I'm still probably going to crash once Screnzy is over. Ugh...

RE: I Just Started OVER

Tell us more about this deck of cards thing. Do you draw a number card and let that number tell you how many panels to have? Is it much like shooting dice? Score of 10-12 makes fire beast enter. Score of 06-09 makes the scrawny demon enter. Score of 03-05 makes the hag witch come in. Score of 02 calls for a new character creation to battle.
Something like that?
