Second Episodes - Help!

Ok, I have a problem. I finished the pilot of my show but it's only 83 pages so I need to write the opening of the second episode but I'm stumped! I have only a very vague idea of what to do next so I was hoping you guys could help me flesh it out.

The story revolves around Alexandra Yarley, a cop in the distant future. To cut a (very) long story short, following the pilot she is now a Bounty Hunter along with a three person crew she only hired at the end of the pilot.

I know where she needs to go and that she needs to meet a certain character to expand the arc but I'm stumped on a specific plot and on how best to play out my characters getting to know one another.

I have a typical stoic gun hand, a mechanic who trusts no one and a shy teenage pilot with a very troubled past to go with my undercover cop with abandonment issues.

Any advice?

RE: Second Episodes - Help!

Think of the worst possible scenario for any of the characters and then have them live it out. Perhaps the person they're searching for actually knows one of the members of the team? Or maybe one of the team members recognizes that they know the bounty? As for actually getting them to speak and interact, there could always be the usual "split up" to search for things. That way they would have to speak to each other--communicate or risk losing their bounty.

I'm doing a similar thing, but I've had plots to go along with them. Usually writing down a quick summary of what happens helps to get the pace going. Or you could start the second episode with one of them getting captured--or speaking to the bounty. Maybe that shy teenage pilot really has a vendetta she's desperate to hide from the others? Maybe the gun-enthusiast has issues with being too close to people? And maybe the mechanic really just had his heart broken? Ask the characters--they might be forthcoming with information.

Good luck. It sounds intriguing.
