Overachievers Shoutout! |
Instead of posting new shoutouts for 200+, I figured I'd just post an overachievers shoutout.
I broke 170 early this afternoon in my first writing session of the day. Just about to start my second one, and am aiming for 200 in the next three hours.
Broken 100 and still want to shoutout? Do it here!

RE: Overachievers Shoutout! |
I got 200 last night and I'm definitely getting to 220 at least by bedtime! I hate the awesome shows that are on Sunday nights! I'm getting so behind because I keep looking up to watch Dance! And Rove's on next!
I'm definitely getting at least 220 before I go to sleep though! :D
Good idea having this thread rather than actual numbers though :D

...Awesome shows? Tonight? What've you been smoking? Rove hasn't been good in years, and I can't stand Dance. :-P I suppose I'm lucky that I don't watch TV... more time to write (not really).

I'm too young to remember when Rove was good :p And I hate my sister for getting me addicted to Dance.. It's the only reality show I can stand.. I've mostly given up on TV though, I use the time for reading and writing now..

P.S, 200 PAGES! WHEEE!
I feel like pizza... (I was just writing about my characters ordering pizza :P)

I'm a lazy overachiever. The type that's so lazy they're not even caught up with what they're supposed to have, but beats themselves up for not being like you people. The one who wants to be the best, but is the worst purely out of laziness. That's me.

Nope, don't remember that :p I've only been watching for a year or so..
Ahh pizza, now you've got me wanting pizza! (Despite the fact that it's morning and I only got up an hour ago because I was writing so late last night) Damn you! haha
Yay for 200! *Victory Dance* all round :D
Don't worry Starre, I think both Bella and I have gone a bit mad this month, try speaking to me without me wanting what my characters want, feeling what my characters feel and pretty much acting like my characters.. I know I've been going absolutely mad with this and I'm probably going to completely burn myself out this month.. And next month, I probably won't even look at my scripts because I'll keep procrastinating and being lazy :p

I'm one of those lazy overachievers too in that I am ahead of where I should be on the usual daily average but nowhere near you lot! But congrats, I am in awe! I just hope mine can get to 100 pages! I probably need to go back at some point and add in directions in a few places.

RE: Overachievers Shoutout! |
I'm burning out next week. I'm on term break for another week. Then I've got the last week and a bit of Script Frenzy while back at TAFE. Yargh.
One of the reasons I made this shoutout was so that those who get discouraged by 100+ page counts don't have to see "200 page shout out!" and things like that in the shoutouts forum. I know that discouraged me in NaNo when people where getting to 200,000 words :S
Tomorrow: You're killing me, man! I need to beat you, ya know. I must get ahead of you... yargh... If you wanna war some time, let me know. :-D

I must get to 220 tonight... Damn the Montreal Comedy Festival!
EDIT: Just got to 220. I'm thinking that I'll have to write through the night and all tomorrow to get a fair bit ahead of Tomorrow... you're really giving me a thorough writing workout!

isabella, I will eventually catch up on you. I'm working on getting sober enough to write. But thin air, booze, and a lot of other things make for a bad weekend writing combination.

I know you will :P I'm just trying to get an epic count before I have to go back to school. Tomorrow (the day, not the person :P), I'm not going to be able to write much. I'm going to a show at 10:30, then lunch with relatives, then I'm getting dragged along to a movie marathon that runs 1-11. I'm going to see if I can get out of the latter, though.

Haha glad to be of some service :p I like making people try hard to catch up, my evil plan to make you burn out is working mwahaha :p
I'm thinking that I'm starting to burn out, I really want to get to 300 today, even though I just scrapped and rewrote 10 pages of yesterdays work so that makes it 60 pages I'd have to write today.. I may be able to, I have the house to myself and hopefully noone will disturb me :) And there is absolutely nothing good on tv so that definitely won't be a distraction!
I'm speeding on ahead Isabella, shall I sing the gingerbread man song? :p
*dances along singing "Run, Run, Run, as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man!"*
Sorry, I know I sound like I'm gloating but I'm on an epic high atm, I don't know what's wrong with me haha

RE: Overachievers Shoutout! |
Your page count is very depressing, Tomorrow.
As for the gingerbread man? You may be the gingerbread man, but at the end, he was foolish and jumped on the nose of the wolf who promised to help him across the river. And, then, he was eaten at the other side.
Also, do I have to mention the rabbit and the hare? ;-)
I'm gonna be out all day from 9:30-11:30, then 1:00-11PM. Not much time to write. Gonna stay up tonight and get a head start on tomorrow's count.
Time for me to go and get some pages done before dinner... Making Chinese food tonight. :-)

RE: Overachievers Shoutout! |
Hmmm so who's the wolf???
No don't mention any rabbits around here, I'll be fine without it haha :p
Ahh I'll slow down today if I can so I don't get an unfair advantage from being home alone all day doing nothing but writing while you're out having fun :p
You have no idea how annoying I find it when you post your dinner on here, I swear you have awesome meals and I sit here and go 'I want what she's having' then go to the kitchen and I have to make pasta or something.. I really want good food! I'm going to make an awesome dinner tonight, just you wait.. haha :p
Hey, another idea to boost my ego here, does anyone know if there's a way to check who has the most pages out of everyone on the site? Maybe see a list of everyone and be able to put it in order of most pages or something? I want to see who we're missing from this little club here (and also see where I am :p).

I'll be home this afternoon from, maybe, 1:30 onwards. I got out of going to the stupid movie marathon. *\o/*
There isn't a way to check it. The author search can't be sorted that way.
But I'm fairly sure that you've got the most, then I've got the second most. Don't worry, I'll have the most soon.
(Oh, guess what I'm making tonight? Chimichangas!)

RE: Overachievers Shoutout! |
Tomorrow has the most, I'm pretty sure, but you don't really have more than me, Isabella. I'm just too lazy to update more than once a week and only added the 41 pages from As You Like It on because it's done and was written in the correct format. I've got three days of work on the main script not added because it's a pain-in-the-frickin-ass to convert.
My wrists still hurt though. So that's apt to change... I'm sad now I wanted to be done with this by my birthday.
EDIT:: If you really want to be sure, you can go through the search tab and look. I got bored of looking, though, there are lots of people and I am very, very lazy.

:O *is in awe*
I'd love ot count myself part of you guys, but I dunno. :p Maybe if I can climb out of this hole I'm in to win I will! =D It'll sorta be like writing 200 pages in that I'll pretty much need 6 pages a day for the rest of the month to win. >.>
Still it's awesome you guys are doing so great!! Are you guys doing multiple stories or is it all one thing? Are you writing trilogies or something?!
I have nothing witty to say here. Please move along.

Chimichangas? Ahh you're making me drool!
Yeah I tried to check it but it wouldn't let it sort that way, I thought it could on NaNo though, couldn't it? I don't know, probably imagining things.
Ooh I better get writing then if you're going to be home. Must win. Must win. haha :p
Movie marathons are fun though :) Although my sisters and I have watched a few movies together this month and each one I just sat there and analysed, watching how long scenes were, wondering if that detail was in the script or the director got to make that choice, etc. It's been bad haha
Anyway, off to write at least 10 pages before lunchtime, getting me to the big 3 double 0!

RE: Overachievers Shoutout! |
Fourteenth Target:: I accidentally have 3. I hated my first one, wrote 12 pages and dumped it on the first day. The main one is actually a re-write of last year. As opposed to the prequel of it I meant to write. It has six parts and I wrote the fourth first. And also I have my 41-page script homework from yesterday and today. Conveniently timed homework.
Tomorrow:: Yay, 300! (This is Sparta! no really though.) The sucky thing is, the director gets to make waaaay too many decisions. We're not even supposed to be doing many parentheticals, we're supposed to leave most of the detail up to them. I've decided 'screw that' and have proceeded to make more internal parentheticals than is sanely necessary. Which, due to my strange format, does not actually add to the length.
Hey, Tomorrow and Isabella - you're both in Australia, right? Does that mean you're starting the 14th or the 15th now?

Ooh, wow!! That is pretty convenient. :D I'd love to do a rewrite/adaption of my NaNo but I never actually finished that story. -.-;; (Finished NaNo but my 50k was more in the middle of the book then the end.)
Anyway, you guys are amazing! :D I can't wait to see how awesome you guys are at the /end/ of the month. ^-^

RE: Overachievers Shoutout! |
Yay!!! 300!!!! So pumped! haha :D
I'm onto my fourth (I think?) script now, mine are pretty sure and pretty unrelated.. I'm just writing as much as I can now that I'm on this huge high for Frenzy and I have people to battle with over how much we can write and stuff. I'll choose my two favourites probably to edit first then edit the rest if I think there's anything good in them.. I don't think mine have that many parentheticals, the director still gets to make quite a few decisions I think.. I'm mainly working on my dialogue because that's always the worst bit in my novels and I think I need to practice it..
Yeah, I'm in Australia, it's almost noon on Wed 15th.

RE: Overachievers Shoutout! |
Tomorrow::I should be going to bed now on the 14th. I have stayed up far too late. Hah, you are quite literally Tomorrow for me! XD
I know, the competition this year is making me write faster too! This is good for Horizon. Since Horizon is my precious that's all I care about. It's also why the director gets no say in it. I'll probably just go ahead and direct it myself, save everyone the trouble.
My dialogue and visuals are my strongest aspects. I tend to get messed up on continuity issues - I've got it together for the first 200 script pages, but then I forget where exactly my minor characters are, and I don't update on what the villain is doing and whatnot. Even right now I know I'll have to go plug a couple scenes into the part that I've just re-written. Let's hope I remember this for when I can actually do this. Let's hope I can find them. The damn thing is 720 pages, I can't find anything in this mess! =0
FourteenthTarget:: I know, but I'd still rather have just been writing Horizon. But if there was ever a good time to have to write a modern version of As You Like It, it's now.
I had 471 pages last year, let's see if I can't beat that. Oh, yes, that wasn't the end of that either. That edition of Horizon finished somewhere around 600 pages or whatnot with its actual ending. I won't be using that ending this time around on account of its serious lameness.
Isabella:: It'll be okay, it shouldn't really hurt your momentum at least. Multiple days in a row do that. I didn't write on it for three days [midterm, airplanes, and college visits, all in a row!] and I look back and go "Where the hell was I going with this arguement?" I'm still not sure where it was supposed to go, but I made it explain something background related and it's okay now.

RE: Overachievers Shoutout! |
Frenzy is killing my sleep patterns. I'm going to die when I have to go back to school because some nights I stay up til the wee hours of the morning writing then other days I'm so tired by 9pm and have to go to bed.. That's the worst thing about Frenzy and NaNo..
I need competition to keep me motivated, I started editing my NaNo and then just didn't bother because I didn't have the competition.. This is definitely helping me keep up with my writing :)
I don't know if I could direct, I think it'd be too hard because I'd only see what I first saw, not what's best for the film.. Directors have to make had choices of what can be cut and what doesn't need to be included but I'd want to keep everything because I liked it when I wrote it.. I don't think I'd be a good director, I'd love to see my movie finished though :)
471? I can beat that :p Maybe.. If I don't die first.. What's your goal this year? Just more than 471?
Ah that sucks Isabella, at least you might have fun watching, and you'll probably come up with awesome ideas for your script while watching..
Ahh time for some more writing, I need to get far ahead so I don't get beaten in that time where I'm finished but half the world is still writing! :p

RE: Overachievers Shoutout! |
I left after one movie because I was mind-numbingly bored and the girl running it was just... *more random German swears* Urgh.
Unfortunately, now it's nearly 5PM. I'm being lazy, ordering pizza and making chimichangas tomorrow instead. I'm hoping to get to, maybe, 275 tonight. Taking it a bit slower, as my hands are starting to really ache (not just when writing). But, it won't stop me. NaNo '07, I fractured a finger and it had to be bandaged to the ones on each side. Also, on the same night, I spilt coffee on my laptop. I still made it to 50k even with a broken laptop and 7 usable fingers.
It seems like kind of a slow process now... Last year, I was stoked to have 3 or 4 pages a day. Now, I do that in 10 minute word wars. Even after an hour (with 5 minute breaks inbetween), it feels like nothing. Kinda sh!t.

RE: Overachievers Shoutout! |
Oh no, you're definitely ahead of me right now. Turns out I edited back and my page count is actually dropping. This is supposed to be my final draft, so I suppose it's not terribly surprising. And, at least it won't end up being 800 pages when finished! I know I could get Val to read that, but nobody else would.
I know what you mean about the slow progress. I'm judging it by scenes, and I usually only get 3 or so done with on a good day. Minor scenes don't count. And the thing is... there's 12-ish major scenes on this day in the story. So I'm still on the same day in the story that I was on Sunday. The next story-day is even longer - like 36 scenes! Ah, eventful day. Lots of dead people come back and cause problems. Not real problems, they're good guys, sort of. They're just kind of those people that you're glad to have on your side but you wish they weren't... them.
