I Finished My Script (but didn't get 100 pages)

I am so proud to have finally typed those two little words "THE END". I never thought that I would have finished so soon and even though I did not get to 100 pages, I still feel like a winner because gosh-darn-it, I have a play! I think 90 pages is good enough for me, so even if I don't get all of the winner goodies, I'm still happy. Now I can spend the rest of the month editing. And no, I don't think that I will add more scenes to make it longer.

Anyone else happy with their non-100 page ending?

RE: I Finished My Script (but didn't get 100 pages)

But, tis only 9 pages! I understand not adding in a scene or even going back to add a few new sentences and such, but couldn't you write a nine page script on something new? Write an outtake or something? *Blinks* I really can't understand stopping at only 9 pages from the goal. Seems like you go through all of the trouble to buy the ingredients, mix them, bake the cake, and then just stop and not eat the cake because you haven't put the frosting on. Just doesn't make sense to me and I will be in awe of your stubbornness for not finishing, even though I don't know you and this in no way affects me.

Awesome job in finishing your script and getting 91 pages ahead of time!!! *walks away mumbling: "Nine pages..."*

I agree. 9 pages is so close. Even if you don't want to add to your play, how about writing a short piece. It is permitted to submit more than one finished work. Try a radio play. They're fun.

RE: I Finished My Script (but didn't get 100 pages)

I've also just typed "THE END" on a play I had barely started before Script Frenzy. It certainly feels like sucess to me!

In the mean time, I have another play I had also barely started I can work on...

RE: I Finished My Script (but didn't get 100 pages)

I would second the start a second script of some type. Nine pages is such a small matter to not reach the finish line for. Write nine pages on a spec script of a TV show you like. Surely there is a show that has characters you would love to see in a crazy situation. Write it. Or start something else and see how many pages you can get in the next ten days. Heck that is just a page a day. Surely you can add that while you edit.

I... am in the same boat. 6 pages to go... I want to write them, but I can't think of what there is left to write! Today I added about 5 pages in the middle, but now I'm drawing blanks... -_-

RE: I Finished My Script (but didn't get 100 pages)

Of course you're a winner with a completed script at 90+ pages!!! Congratulations.

Frenzy is all about the writing and the fun. The 100 page line is just an incentive to get it done, to reach something concrete and affirmative. If you've gotten your script finished and it's a few pages less than 100, you don't need a winner's certificate or the word "winner" across your progress bar. You KNOW you've accomplished what you set out to do.

OTOH, I'm likely to get the 100 pages and NOT have a finished script. and although I'll be labeled a winner, I rather think more highly of you who have finished your scripts, whatever their length. I'd rather have a completed script.

Good work all.

RE: I Finished My Script (but didn't get 100 pages)

I was exactly in the same boat as you: finished with 9 pages to go. So I started a comic. Don't even think I'll finish it before getting the pages I need, and it is rather terrible, but that's not the point. Just come up with anything. Doesn't matter how good or bad, if it's unfinished or not: just get those 9 pages.

Yep, I ended up adding a scene to flesh out the antagonist a little, and a crazy flashback to events that were reminisced about in an early scene. The flashback made a nice segue to a more tragic scene.

RE: I Finished My Script (but didn't get 100 pages)

The same thing happened to me :O. Thankfully, I'm doing a comic, so I just wrote up a mini-chapter for the end of the volume so I could reach the 100 pages :).
