Torture. Does Salt in Wounds hurt really bad?

Hi,

I'm writing a Screenplay where someone gets tortured (the Protagonist) and his back is cut with a knife. After that I let my Antagonist rub Salt into the Wound to make it even worse.

Now my Question. Does that hurt really bad? And I mean that bad that someone without a strong will would pass out?

Thanks in advance for answering that.

Than there is one more thing. As I an a pacifist I don't know that much about Torturing. Any Idea where I can get some Information about used techniques?

Thanks and good Luck on the Last Days,
George

I used wikipedia when I wanted to torture my characters- look up torture or torture devices, but only if you have a strong stomach.

Um YEAH> It hurts worse than the wound itself. I shudder just thinking about it. In the days of American slavery, masters would throw salt water on a slaves back after he'd been whipped. OUCH!

interestingly it also is mildly good for it (mildly as in it won't give you an infection)

The time invites you; go; (Hamlet Act I scene III)
