Netbooks For Screenwriting

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone out there is using a netbook for screenwriting? While these mini laptops can certainly handle the application requirements, how are they for writing screenplays?

I use a desktop replacement laptop for when I'm at home, but am considering purchasing an Asus 1000HE for my writing projects (novels and screenplays).

Just curious how netbooks are working out for you as a writing tool.

Thanks!

RE: Netbooks For Screenwriting

I have an EeePC running EasyPeasy (Ubuntu distro for netbooks) with Celtx and it runs beautifully.

RE: Netbooks For Screenwriting

I'm running Celtx on my EEE 701 with the standard Linux distro - there are a few bugs, but when it behaves it runs beautifully. (I think next time I'll be going with an OpenOffice template, but that's because of my own personal quirks...)

If you get one with Windows on it (or go all hardcore and set it up with another distro), then a lot of my compatibility problems would probably not apply for you!

RE: Netbooks For Screenwriting

I'm writing my movie script in my Dell Inspiron Mini 9, which has a rather nice little keyboard, using an OpenOffice.org 3 template, and I'm pretty happy with the result.

Anyway, considering I got it just for writing and support tasks(just over 4 hours of battery and a nice feedback from the keyboard, wifi and so), I think it's a really beautiful little machine... :-)

good luck!
