Good Names

How do you come up with titles? Is there any special thing that you do? Or does it just hit you from out of nowhere? I'm curious :)

RE: Good Names

Just like plots: Either they pop fully-formed into my head, or they don't come at all. Except that I'm now getting better at coming up with plots from whole cloth, whereas my naming skills still suck.

If all else fails, take something that makes no sense at all and change the meaning. That's how I named this script. I was fiddling around with a DJ name generator, and I noticed that it displayed the words "LIVE TONIGHT..." So I thunk to myself, "Self, you have got to use that." So I stuck it on my script.

For several days, it was just a placeholder. But then I was working on a poster for my script, and I realized something: depending on how you pronounced "live", it could have another meaning (more like "enjoy the day"). So the full title became "Live Tonight: The World Ends Tomorrow".

It's still kind of weird, but I think it's catchy enough to work.

RE: Good Names

I think mine just sorta happened. Free Fliers? I think I was originally going for something along the lines of my two winged-people trying to become free, but I realized one already was free and the other was the one that really needed to become free. I was really just thinking literally, of family obligations, but now that I think about it, they both need to become free of a bad reputation. I think.
