Sci-fi Cliches

There's one on Nano, but I figure I'd cross-over.

We all know them. We all love them. [Or, er, hate them as it would seem]. Sometimes they are used *very* well. Other times they are just a bore.

Which ones can you think of?

P.S. Or basically anything that bothers you about science fiction.

My biggest pet peeve?
When all the 'aliens' are humanoid. The chances of two different species having almost the same phyisical and chemical properties are astronomical. Not to mention the fact they're on different planets.

And, yeah, I understand why the media does it. it still urks me.

P.P.S. I'm writing a cheesy sci-fi radioplay and want to add some of these in [hopefully doing them justice]

----
I'm from Hamilton, land of hysterical fiction filled with flying monkeys, dancing bananas, and sexy, cozy, violence

RE: Sci-fi Cliches

- Faster than light space travel! (My script has this, but in my defense, it's only the hyper-advanced race that has since disappeared that has figured out the secret.)
- Alien/human crossbreeds!
- Loud explosions in space! (yes, I am stealing most of these from the last ep of Dollhouse, why do you ask?)
- Ascension to a higher plane!
- Telekinesis!
- Laser guns!
