To Sex scene or not to Sex scene?

So I have come to the point where I'm in debate about whether or not to write the annoying sex scene. It's not necessary per say, I have written the scenes surrounding it so that you know it happen but didn't have to see it, which is pretty awesome. But I'm also in crunch time mode and could probably use the page or so it would take up.

So do I do it? Or do I fill with dialogue and other description elsewhere to eat the extra pages? And if I do write it, how do I do this so it doesn't seem like a Harliquin novel instead of a screenplay?

RE: To Sex scene or not to Sex scene?

Well, we have three days left so go ahead write it, you can still edit it out later.

As far as those scenes are concerned, I'm all for "less is more". It also depends on when in the story it happens. I remember this movie where the first scene was a pretty graphic sex scene and you're kind of like okay, you could have warned us first! (well it was no rom/com, but still) If it comes as the natural progression in the character's journey, an outcome to the sexual tension you've been building up: go for it! If it's just free and pointless, think about it twice.

Also, you don't necessarily have to describe scenes with a lot of words, I'd say especially sex scenes, it sometimes can only take a few words depending on whether you want to indicate love or lust.

I know in my script it happens, I have yet to write it, and I only have 3 days left!

What am I doing here?!

Good luck!

RE: To Sex scene or not to Sex scene?

Well I don't your plot, but normally if you have hinted that it has happened, I would recommend leaving it at that. Less is more with me. I say add a page elsewhere, but hey that's just me.
