The Wrong Stuff

Well dagnabbit, I'm a loser.

And not because I didn't have the drive, because I love writing and have written lots of things. Hundreds upon hundreds of pages in different formats all over the place.

And not because I'm not prolific. With the screenplay format, I can pound out 20 pages in one writing session. That's only 15-20 hours of work for me, and I would have had 100 pages.

Nay, my failure lay in the subject matter, the concept, the way the story was shaping itself. There wasn't anywhere for me to go with it, and it was turning into a real snorefest. And oh do I ever hate snorefests.

So with that, I humbly admit defeat. See y'all at NaNo.

RE: The Wrong Stuff

Aww, I understand what you mean. :) My story's been stuck in places this whole time, I had to start a second script to relit my fire and even then I had many many many times where I just couldn't figure out what to do next. Luckily I forced myself through, and managed to get where I am. (Yay! =D)

Anyways, I should stick on topic. :p Why didn't you just try a different script? Unless you realised this today, then I understand. ^-^;;

I have nothing witty to say here. Please move along.

RE: The Wrong Stuff

With me, the problem wasn't the story. I didn't have the wrong story. The problem is that the '07 NaNo novel is still unfinished. And I moved. Takes a lot out of you, especially when you have to transport a lot of heavy furniture across town. So, in my case it was bad timing. Pretty much.

Just so you know, my NaNo victory record is still perfect: 3 for 3. However, I've lost Script Frenzy whenever I attempted to adapt a novel (my '06 NaNo in '07, my '07 this month). Maybe there's a message here? Or a challenge I haven't faced up to yet? Who knows?
