More crazy stunts like this?

Who else has already started something similar?

I did. I'm doing Summerwrite2 on Livejournal (150k words from May-August), + NaNoMangO (30 pages of comic in July), + possibly ArtGrind (Draw the same character every day from June-November). And NaNoWriMo in November.

I'll probably fail one or two if not all of these... To be honest, this year's ScriptFrenzy is the first challenge of the sort that I've won (failed NaNoWriMo three times, ArtGrind and NaNoMangO once each). But I'm trying to get myself to do something... this helps.

Anyone else?

RE: More crazy stunts like this?

I do nano (though not consistently). The one year I did it - I won. I think that was in 2007. This is my first Screnzy. And I never even HEARD of the other challenges, but I think I'll check them out.

I hear ya about just doing something - but we can get so caught up in "just doing something" that what we just do is meaningless and as demotivating as doing nothing at all. I suspect you do these things to try to jump start something and figure, like most of us, that if you at least try to do something then that's enough of a seed for the universe to grab hold of an run with. But I suspect that hasn't been the case so far, and it probably won't be.

I challenge you to follow through on the things you've created already. Take the next step to get your plays read or send your book to an editor. When you start getting rejection letters - then you will know you're doing something! Every "no" leads you one step closer to a "yes" - so start collecting those "no's" NOW!

Write new stuff, but develop the old stuff. Then develop the new stuff while you rewrite the old stuff. Keep pushing ahead!

Best of luck!

If you haven't looked at the suggestion page from Nano yet, here are some ideas: http://www.nanowrimo.org/nowwhat

Projects like these are fun. I do them every opportunity that I can. Fail at all of them, mostly, but they're still fun.

I've never heard of ArtGrind, but that sounds like a lot of fun! Do you know somewhere that I could get more info?

ArtGrind is on Livejournal. If you have an account there, search it under usernames.

RE: More crazy stunts like this?

But i haven't written anything yet.

(My ScriptFrenzy script is the first 100 pages of an ongoing webcomic I plan to do sometime... I'm not nearly good enough at drawing to draw it yet, and I'm not willing to hire an artist).

RE: More crazy stunts like this?

I'm giving my muse a rest for now because I need this month to get my NaNoWriMo novel edited for self-publication at the end of the month.

Next month is impossible because I'll lose four days camping somewhere quite noisy, quite a lot of time before that organising stuff and some time afterwards because I'm supposed to be getting ready for a family wedding.

July might be a possibility, but between then and October the most likely challenges I'll be doing are NaBloPoMo (one post on my blog every day for a month) because my blog needs feeding whatever else I create. (The other challenges help the blog some because I am encouraged to post word/page counts, but they are not a replacement).

RE: More crazy stunts like this?

The only similar thing I'm doing this year is NaNoWriMo. I won NaNo last year, and am hoping to pull it off again. However, with my schedule next year, not sure. I'll give it a shot, though.

Sounds like you've got a lot lined up!

RE: More crazy stunts like this?

I really want to do more crazy challenges like this, but I think I'm only up for the writing ones, I'm no good at art. I'll definitely do NaNo again, and Frenzy next year, does anyone know of any other writing ones?

RE: More crazy stunts like this?

I'm on the FMwriters.com forum. I'm doing their two year novel class for the second time, which gives me a good basis for preparing, writing and editing a novel. I'm afraid I'm also a total Nanowrimo addict, so I'll be returning there this year. I'm currently (also on the FMwriters forum) doing a short story a day challenge, which they do every May. I like it a lot to be writing in short bursts instead of in long stretches for a change.

Sounds there's a lot of cool challenges out there. Keep 'm up!

Well, I like to keep myself busy and I haven't really got anything better to do than create stuff...

RE: More crazy stunts like this?

There's 150,000 word challenges that run for four months each (so really, it's less words a day then NaNo is) over on livejournal.

Currently we're on Summerwrite: http://community.livejournal.com/summerwrite2/

But there's also these two:

http://community.livejournal.com/springwrite/

http://community.livejournal.com/autumnwrite/

It's fantastic :D

RE: More crazy stunts like this?

I'm doing Nanomango as well :) I've set my personal goal at 62 pages -- I have the full first week of June off, so we'll see how I get on with that. But I'll call myself a winner if I make it to the required 30 pages :)

RE: More crazy stunts like this?

I got to 100 pages for Screnzy but the script isn't actually finished. i had to put it off for exam season (But's it's my last year so hey!) but the rest of June will probably spent finishing and editing it.

I failed miserably at Nano last year so I might do Julnowrimo/Augnowrimo to see if I can do better this year.

RE: More crazy stunts like this?

no man i never tried the stuff like that but always preferred to do something different as now a days killing my time in 642-901 exam, 642-812 exam and N10-004 exam. This seems a unique idea that needs to be experienced once. please go on with it and let me know how do you find in in this [articular context...
waiting for your response.. :)
