research studies for sleep

When you sign up to participate in a research study for sleeping related issues (insomnia, sleepwalking, sleep-apnea), what exactly happens?

Do you have to take any measures before the study begins?

Do you spend the night in hospitals or at home? If a hospital, is it a normal hospital? A research facility?

Who will you be dealing with? University scientists or doctors, or some other type of person altogether?

And will you be hooked up to anything or monitored in any specific ways?

And if there's anything else I know that's important about research studies for sleep, or sleeping drugs, please let me know.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out here. :) :)

RE: research studies for sleep

No idea, but your topic seems interesting.

Perhaps you'll find something here: Harvard Medical School's sleep research recruitment

or here:
Sleep for Science

or here:
Rush University Medical Center

or any of the lots more that turn up on google.

Good luck.
