Asking what happens day to day in the Navy is like asking what happens day to day in Sony or the U.N.. It is a question so general that there no real good answer. Even if you say " on a ship" it isn't specific enough due to the wide variety of ships in the Navy.
I will say that for me, during my time in the Navy, "Haze Grey and underway" was the saying for my Ship. I was on the USS Stump DD-978. She is now on the ocean bottom. (She was retired and later sank as a target for new ships) We fought in the Gulf War and cruised the Mediterranean. We went from Cuba to Nova Scotia. We spent a year in the shipyards in New Orleans. We did underway replenishment in the heat of the Persian Gulf and saw a sand storm without any land in sight; we did underway replenishment in the North Atlantic in the cold dark night with icy salt water stinging our eyes and a full moon that looked like a giant white ball sitting on the horizon filling a third of the night sky.
So if you want usable information I need to know more of what you are looking for. What type of person, an officer or an enlisted? What type of Job? Someone that works on missile systems or someone that works on the engine? Their day to day lives are all very different. So if you give me more specific questions, I can give a better answer.
