Who to direct the script to.

I have been thinking about how to phrase this question for some time now and I think I've finally got it:
When you are writing your script, are you writing to the audience or are you writing to the character?
For example:
NIKKI
(she walks to the table)
or
NIKKI
(you walk to the table)

RE: Who to direct the script to.

The scripts I've read don't direct it to anyone.

NIKKI
(walks to the table)

Basically, no personal pronouns. In the event that any are necessary (as in complex multi-person stage directions) they're all third person, because there's not individual scripts, it's one script for everyone (my experience is EXTREMELY limited, a few stage auditions, that's it.)

RE: Who to direct the script to.

Okay, that makes sense. You're basically continuing from the name like, "Nikki walks to the table".
Thanks, that was just bugging me for a long time.
