News and Farewell For Now

It was an incredible Script Frenzy 2010! 2,083 people crossed the finish line and a grand total of 373,906 pages were penned in April.

Participation jumped an astounding 76% from last year. Donations were up. Store sales were up. (Both of these things make our Board of Directors very happy.) We had an incredible A-list cast of Cameo contributors. Overall, it was a stellar year.

Much of this couldn't have been done without our incredible volunteer team of Municipal Liaisons. I hope you had a chance to meet yours because these people are superstars. They did a fantastic job organizing write-ins, parties, cheerleading, and keeping everyone in the loop by sending out regional emails. Their efforts deserve nothing short of a giant standing ovation. I'm guessing that won't be easy to gather all 21,000 of us in one room for all the cheering, so instead I'll say from everyone here at the office to every single ML, "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You did a tremendous job and we all heart you and all that you do."

(You can also email your ML if you want to send a personal "standing ovation.")

The team here in the office is undergoing some exciting changes. Most of the staff have been wearing multiple job-hats for the past few years. This year, not only will two new people be hired, but everyone in the office will be wearing just one hat.

The new staff configuration will look like this:

Chris Baty will be the full-time Executive Director of the Office of Letters and Light.

Tavia Stewart-Streit will be the Operations Manager of the Office of Letters and Light.

Lindsey Grant will be the Program Director of National Novel Writing Month.

These changes have opened two full-time positions that we are currently interviewing for: Community Liaison and Young Writers Program Director. I can't wait to meet the new additions to the staff!

And now that we've wrapped up everything we can until next year, I'll be signing off until January. This is my first week in "off-season mode" and I'm already missing the amazing team of folks here (who are all now gearing up for NaNoWriMo), our Friday jams, the new office's proximity to a bakery, and the weekly meetings where Jezra's update is always, "I'm working on the website."

As soon as I get back, I'll be in touch so we can all start our outlines way in advance of April 1. (Next year, I am going to have an outline before getting started. I am!)

Whatever your plans are for the rest of the year, I wish you nothing but good luck, yummy food, great weather, and that you find joy in all of it.

Much frenzied love,
Jen
