Welcome to Script Frenzy 2008!

My dear Scriptheads,

Welcome to Script Frenzy 2008! I'm pleased to be back for another year of scripting madness, and hope that everybody enjoys what I hope will be a wonderful month. Read on for some important information about Script Frenzy in the Boston region.

We're still several weeks away from starting, and I'm working on getting all the details squared away. As your municipal liaison for the Boston region, it's my job to be your point person for this arguably-insane but hopefully fun event. I'll be organizing write-ins, moderating our local forums, and answering your questions.

Write-ins are tentatively scheduled for Saturdays in April, locations to be determined. A new post and calendar entries will detail where and when write-ins will be held, and will be kept up-to-date as new events are scheduled. Write-ins are the events where we get together and work on our projects. Ideas are tossed around, people socialize, the goal board acts as motivator and I run around with a camera documenting it all. A lot of people find them to be wonderful productive times, and it's nice to hang out with a few other people who understand the depth of madness to which you've succumbed.

Moderating the forums is another great time sink in April. When posting to the forums, please keep things civil and all-ages friendly. Remember that we have participants ranging in age from young teens to senior citizens, and post accordingly. Also, don't reveal too much information into your posts--this *is* on the Internet, after all. I highly recommend using your screen names (or just your first name) and not putting e-mail addresses in plain text. If in doubt, please play it safe.

Most importantly, though, I'm here for you. If you have questions for me, please e-mail me at letterslight -AT- gmail.com (replace -AT- with @, of course). I try to answer all e-mails within 24 hours, and often get back to you much sooner.

I'm sorry to say that my erstwhile co-ML, QueenOfTheUniverse, won't be able to participate as strongly as she has in the past few events. Rest assured, she will be at most events (and will lead one while I'm away at an out-of-state wedding), but with her duties helping to run National Novel Editing Month keeping her busy throughout March, added to the stress of a new job and life overall, she wisely decided she needed some time off. With SF being so much smaller than National Novel Writing Month, it's a lot simpler for one person to keep things together. That having been said, I may ask for your help from time to time.

So again, welcome! Good luck and happy scripting!

Cheers,
Travis

Congratulations!

I just want to send a great big congratulations out to those who have won already and those who will win, seeing as there are still about three hours left of the month! And to those who don't make it... there's always next year. In the meantime... I can't stress it enough... keep writing! lol, I don't mean to borrow Travis's slogan... but it just fits. Keep writing, even if you're between these crazy month-long writing escapades. The more you write the better you'll get and the easier it will be when you come back next year!
BTW, to those who came to the events, thanks for making it a great month! I had a great time hanging out with you!
So, congrats and maybe I'll see some of you in November for NaNoWriMo or in March for NaNoEdMo!

Saturday's event at Subway!

Hello Boston Scriptheads! It is I, QueenOfTheUniverse, Anna, finally getting back into the forums to say hi once again. In case you didn't get Travis's wonderful email a few days ago, I'll be MLing the event on Saturday and I'm expecting 100% attendence from all of you! I mean, come on, great food, great atmosphere, great music, everything you need while you write feverishly! And, if that's not enough, there's a cardboard cutout of Jared, the Subway spokesperson, to give you moral support.
Oh, and don't forget, while Travis may be out of town, that does not mean the camera will be away with him! Mine might be dead, but I've borrowed one of his, so there will be plenty of picture taking!
So, I'm expecting you all there for lots of fun! Oh yes, you still have plenty of time to win, so keep writing and I'll see you at Subway tomorrow afternoon!

United States -- Massachusetts -- Boston

Setting.

So, is anyone being like me and setting their Script in Boston? ::Grins::.

I'm so uncreative and unoriginal it hurts.

Also, this may sound strange but since we all live in and around the Boston area and I'm sure at least a handful of people ride the T etc, what line do people seem to act the strangest on?

Like, is there a certain line on the MBTA, blue, green, red etc, etc, etc, where there seems to be more people muttering to themselves or just acting generally "weird" than others? It may help me figure out the first scene of my script :).

But, happy Scripting guys, woo!

United States -- Massachusetts -- Boston

SF 2008 Events List

Hello all,

I've posted the first three events in the events listing (look at the bottom of the forums page or check the events calendar.

These events are the official, set up by the ML, Script Frenzy write-ins, and I hope they'll be a big draw this month. However, I understand that everyone is not able to make these events. If you would like to host a write-in of your own, by all means let us know. Post in the forum with the proposed times, date, and location, and get scripting!

Cheers,
Travis

Introduce yourselves!

Hello all,

Here's your chance to introduce 100+ of your scriptwriting colleagues to a future famous scriptwriter/playwright/television writer. Come on in, post a little about yourself, give the rest of us a chance to say "I knew her when, ..." or "He was a great ML before he became famous, ..." (or something more realistic). :-) Tell us who you are, what you're doing, etc. Entertain, enlighten, and inform. Or just say "hi." It doesn't matter what you say, just that you put yourself forward.

I'm Travis, your municipal liaison for Script Frenzy 2008 in the Boston area, and I approved this message. :-)
