In addition to the "official" write-ins, where MLs (and possibly swag??) will be, people sometimes like to just get out and write someplace that's well... NOT home.

So if you're planning to be out there in the great... out there... and want some company, post up here with location and time, and maybe some of us block-head writers with no motivation will come join you.

That being said, there's a group right now at Barefoot Coffee until around 3ish. Whoo! Go team!

In San Francisco and need to make some headway. Once again, I should be writing most of this weekend in the Mission, and propose a San Francisco Write-in tomorrow, 4/17, or an alternative date/time that works for more people. In any case, as the first two attempts have not quite come together, I will throw out as a potential location Muddy Waters on Valencia and 16th or Valencia and 24th, or Cafe Petra again. If a formal meet up does not materialize, I'll be working at at least one of these locations, so please PM or e-mail me if you want to drop by.

If you've been around for National Novel Writing Month and last year's Frenzy, you might know about our East Bay Midway Party tradition---Juan's Place in Berkeley for chips, salsa, great food, margaritas, and a much needed break from writing.

It will be an evening to meet other East Bay scriptwriters, to vent about hand cramps, to discuss plot twists, and to congratulate one another on making it half-way through the Frenzy.

Santa Rosa Write-Ins! (We've found a great HQ!)

Hey, Ethereel (Etherelle) again!

So, we tested out Cafe Noto last Sunday with a very casual kick-off party with four members and it looks like a nice place to hunker down and call "HQ". We even shared a word with the people who worked there (since we believed it to be fair to give them a fair warning), and they're eager to provide.

Cate Noto has all a writer needs!
-Food
-Drink
-Free Internet (YES)
-Bathrooms (YES TO THE SECOND POWER)
-Couches (YES TO THE YES)
And...
-Outlets! (THANK YOU, YES)

And it's in the middle of comfy Windsor on the Green, a great place to absorb inspiration from your surroundings and find information (there's a book store just down the street). Not only that, but it has the famous Powell's Sweet Shoppe just two stores down, which always proves a great bargaining tool if you're the competitive type.

i.e.
"Last one to reach five pages in the next hour, has to buy us CANDY!"

AND, it's a great source of energy if you're not the caffiene type (like myself).

So, myself and others have agreed to meet there regularly unless there are other writing events going on.

Who: You, of course! Frenziers of all size and type!
What: Write-Ins (Power Writing Hour!)
Where: Cafe Noto in Windsor Town On the Green, look up directions on Mapquest if you must.
When: 3 (or earlier if you prefer) until 6 (when the cafe closes), every Sunday. 3-6PM every Sunday!
How: WITH THE POWER OF THE FRENZY.

So, we'll hope to see you there, and it'll be easy to spot us out! We'll be the ones possessively gathered around the outlets and the couch with laptops and notebooks. You know, the people with bags under their eyes. ;D If we're lucky, we might even have a sign with which to identify our table.

Hola, script writers.

For those of you who don't know me, this is Lily, your fearless liaison.

So I've got a write-in planned for tonight at The Black Rose in Santa Rosa. It looks like it will be ill attended, but I'm none the less looking forward to it.
In case you can make it, I'll be there for several hours, starting around 5:30 or 6. I'll be the one wearing a newsboy cap. I'll also be the one writing a script.

Incidentally, they serve highly delicious fish and chips.

While I prefer writing in bars to libraries and coffee shops, I know this is rare. I like bars because I've worked as a coffee jerk enough times to cringe every time I hear the screech of milk being improperly steamed. I also like bars because they support my most base and destructive habits (ie: in addition to a wide selection of tasty beverages, there's usually a nice convenient/comfortable/covered smoking area).

Perhaps you would prefer a coffee place, or maybe Wednesday nights are no good for y'all.

Let me know times and locations that work for you.

Maybe we can work out a weekly thing.

As for me, I like dive bars (but can be flexible), and would prefer santa rosa, petaluma, rohnert park, or sebastopol. I am free most evenings.

It's time to start getting in position for the Frenzy. We'll be spending the month of April together, so we'd better make sure we know who everyone is. I'll start.

Hi, I'm Jon aka windral, and I'll be one of the South Bay Municipal Liasons for Script Frenzy this year. It's my first time, so be gentle. I haven't done SF before, but I completed my Nanowrimo last November with a few days to spare, so 100 pages of script should be easy right? I expect my friends and family won't be seeing me much next month...

I'm a 20 year old would-be college student currently serving my sentence at a coffee shop no one's ever heard of unless they work at Yahoo! I have an on-again off-again, sometimes long-distance, love-hate relationship with writing that is in the process of moving toward script writing. We're seeing a counselor.

So who are you? Why are you here? What do you hope to accomplish in the next month of insanity, caffeine, and scripts? Next caller!

Santa Rosa Kick Off Party?

Hello out there!

So this is my situation:

Myself and other Frenziers (is that a word? Oh well, now it is) are unable to reach San Francisco for the Pan-Bay Area Kick Off Party and any other gigs over there. We've got school, I'm sure others have work, and it's simply too far away for us to reach from Santa Rosa (and too much too waste on gas)...And a Thursday is kind of hard to do on top of all that. D8

So this is my hopeful resolution:

We do it over the weekend (preferably Sunday or Friday) and in Santa Rosa. 8D

I'm not sure on details, i.e. where, when, or what, but that's why I'm posting here to see if others who are in my same predicament want to gather.

Ok, I know. We're far from the Bay, but I'm at a loss as to where we fit in the limited areas offered for California.

I am from Oakland and will be there from time to time, but i reside in Merced (about an hour south of Modesto and an hour North of Fresno) for school.

Anybody have any idea where I should post?

I know there's always an awesome party to kick off Nanowrimo. I don't see any for Scriptfrenzy yet, for this region. My question is, will there be one, and if so, when? I'd like to keep that time free and come celebrate the beginning of another month of writing madness!
