Where did my post go?!
If you're trying to find your post, we feel you. There's a few things at work that can be affecting your missing post.
1) There is a 15 minute site cache. If you start a new topic, you may notice it says at the top:
"This site employs caching during peak demand times, it may take 15 minutes for your post to appear on the forums."
This means that the topic list won't update for that time, minimum, sometimes a little more.
2) Your post got buried. This is the busiest forum on the site, so you may want to page page several pages and make sure it didn't fall off.

Do cops and federal agents do jury duty?
I have some fanfic ideas for Criminal Minds bouncing in my head, and I'm trying to get a definitive answer on this question.
As far as I can tell from Google-fu, being in law enforcement gives him/her a way out for bias towards the prosecution, but they aren't barred from doing it outright, as long as they aren't connected to the actual case at trial.
As somebody who once thought she wanted to be a lawyer, I'm pretty sure any defense attorney would want LEOs out of the pool immediately, but if the defense attorney wanted to keep a LEO on the jury, could they?

How long would it take to leave our solar system at light speed?
In the beginning of the first act, we're on a space ship that has recently exited our solar system. The astronauts on board have just awoken from hyper sleep. I need to know how long it would have taken them? Thank you!

Bombings and Blunt Force Trauma
Even though I don't need to know right this moment, I thought I would just get this out there, so if someone has the answer they can reply any time.
Firstly, if a top-notch school in Florida was bombed by a student, would it be reasonable to say forces from all over the state would come lend their services? I don't really think so, because I've been to Florida and it takes quite a while to get through HALF the state, so I am not sure if that would be reasonable.

"buying" prostitute service
I'm writing a story about a guy who gets falsely accused of buying services from a prostitute. What would the penalty be?
This is USA in the 90's. Mid-country.

I have fifty gagillion questions for one of my writing projects, so be prepared for a long read. If you can answer any or all of the questions, that'd be great!
Background Info: My MC is a fourteen-year-old girl living in Smalltown USA. She's on the school 'football field' (large, muddy, flat area) surrounded by her gym class when a series of freak coincedences leads to her having a couple of the bones in her shoulder broken and several more in her foot crushed. She (understandably) falls over, and is caught and subsequently dropped into the mud by one of her classmates.

The effects of brain tumours
Morning everyone,
I'm working through a script and was just wondering if a brain tumour could cause audio and visual hallucinations or schizophrenia?
Would it be enough to make someone think they are a superhero and, as such, have special powers?
Thanks. :)
__________________________8 year olds, car crashes and above the knee leg amputations
Gruesome, I know. But that seems to be something of the norm in my characters and their backstories.
Be warned that I know very, very little about the subject, and I run the risk of sounding incredibly ignorant...
Anyway. I have an eight year old average male who gets into a car crash with his father in the beginning of summer, just after school's out (conventient, much?). He is in one of the back seats. I need the following to happen:

I've a query.
Okay. In a non-SF project I'm working on, my main character is a writer.
He's requested an advance on his book. Through circumstances, the book he was working on was deleted.
Could he be sued if he does not deliver the book by a certain time?
