Rules & Regulations

READ BEFORE POSTING: What to post in the rules forum

This forum is for asking questions about the rules of the challenge, not asking questions about the website or how to format your script.

First, before posting any questions here, read the FAQ:

http://www.scriptfrenzy.org/helpfaq

They really are Frequently Asked Questions! If your question isn't answered there, it may be because we don't *have* a rule for that particular thing. Go ahead and ask if you're not sure.

Second, scan the other topics in the forum, and make sure your question hasn't already been asked.

I use Liquid Story Binder to write my novels. It's incredible!

Nonfiction?

I don't see anything in the rules excluding a non-fiction script, but the assumptions seem to be that scripts will be stories, involving characters and plot and so forth. What I have in mind would be similar to a radio script, and would include stories, but would basically be nonfiction. Does that count?

Can we write a sequel to an already existing screen play

If there is a movie that has already been released some years ago, could we write a sequel to it?

Are we allowed to plan our plot before the frenzy begins?

Like you can in NaNoWriMo?

Just making sure...

First year trying!

Writing Partner in different timezone

I know, I know, NaNo is in full swing, but I'm procrastinating by thinking about my first foray into ScriptFrenzy!

I think I'd like to co-write with a friend of mine, but I'm exceptionally curious how that would work, given that she is in New Zealand and I am in Massachusetts, USA. Do we both get to start at her timezone start but then have to finish by hers? Or start at mine and finish by mine?

I'm trying to figure out how we get our full 30 days but no more, and still validate.

Am I making sense in my head?

Beer is cracked, herb is rolled

Made it, whoo-hoo! Now of course the problem is what to do with it? Where to send it? How to sell it. Any advice. Do you administrators READ any of the scripts? Anyhoo, it's aprty time. Didn't think I'd make it after starting five days late, but... it's a [removed by moderator] masterpiece!!!

Validating After the 30th?

Is it possible to receive validation after the 30th if a participant reaches the required page count but does not power at home?

There are city wide power outages in Tennessee and probably in some other states too. We got hit by the tornado storm (mostly debri and other damage, some houses in another part of town, but where I live we mostly have downed trees and power lines/poles). There are multiple power lines and poles down around the city as well.

Do we have until midnight on the 30th to finish our scripts?

I'm so confused. Please help.

Character Sketches

I've had a look through the forums and didn't see anything regarding this but if you are writing a script however have created a few character sketches. These are intended as references for whoever illustrates the script - can they count in the page count?

This is my first time writing a graphic novel script so I'm not sure about the official protocol for character designs etc.

My computer ate my script...

So I was actually getting some work done while the site was down. (Probably because I didn't have the procrastination station to distract me.) I was going merrily along until it ended around 95 pages. I decided to go ahead and convert it to PDF, thinking that it might skew things a bit towards the plus side. I also figured I could add a few filler pages, like Title, Character Sheets, and THE END, later on. And then the power went out. In the middle of converting.

Needless to say, my file was corrupted. And I hadn't backed up to anything else for at least 40 pages!
