EXT. OUTSIDE BRYONY & EDWARD’S APARTMENT -- NOON The building they are in looks like a military pre-form bunker. It’s all utilititarian, poured concrete and exposed gurders. The concrete is pitted, faiding, and covered in grafitti and climbing mosses. The street is full of potholes, and though the few hover-vehicles that go by have no problem with them, the cars and motorcycles do, and they create a cacaphony of noise as they pass by. BRYONY and EDWARD are walking down the street. BRYONY is still in the trenchcoat and boots, she has pulled a black knit cap down over her black hair. EDWARD is dressed in worn jeans with holes at the knees and a grey t-shirt, with a heavy vest overtop. Belted at his waist is a long sheathed knife, opposite that is a small pistol. Around his neck is a small metal charm on a black cord. (CONTINUED) CONTINUED: 7. EDWARD Don’t worry, Ithil. Marcus won’t cause trouble. BRYONY He’d better not. I’m not really worried, just more annoyed. EDWARD I know. BRYONY Just don’t let it bother -you-, ne imomu-kun? EDWARD (sighs) I won’t. BRYONY Don’t worry about it. All we’re doing is dropping off the data-disk with the girl. That’s it. EDWARD (mock-bored, rolls eyes) I know. . . BRYONY Anor. . . EDWARD Yes, nii-chan. Si, nethig-nin. . . BRYONY Daro pedel, gwador-nin. . . EDWARD (sticks out his tongue slightly at her) Oh? Why? BRYONY (chuckling quietly herself) Because I said so. Now, daro pedel. Hush. You’ll speak your mind too much to Lamnya-san. EDWARD raises an eyebrow at the use of the formal langage. EDWARD Next you’ll be calling her ’Lamnya-sensai.’ (CONTINUED) CONTINUED: 8. BRYONY (sharply) If I do, it’s no concern of yours, gwador-nin. Lets go. They dodge a pair of fast moving motorcycles as the step across the street.
