An Excerpt from The State of Indigo

Nathan turns on the tv with a remote and settles back to watch.

SUNSET

(Quietly.)

Nathan.

NATHAN

(Sharply raising head and looking towards the door.)

Sunset?

Nothing is heard except for the soft sounds of the tv.

Nathan fumbles to pick up the remote.

He turns the tv off and drops the remote onto the bed.

NATHAN

Sunset?

Nothing is heard except for the machines.

Nathan relaxes and picks the remote back up, his finger on the power button.

SUNSET

(Quietly)

Find me!

NATHAN

(Drops the remote.)

Sunset!

RANDOM NURSE enters the room and heads to his bed.

RANDOM NURSE

Now, dear, there's still a couple of hours before the sun goes down. But there's only a few minutes before you're expected at an examination room, so let's get going, shall we?

NATHAN

Did you see a young woman out there? Brown hair and eyes, most likely wearing a skirt? Probably waiting outside my room to try and scare me when you bring me out?

RANDOM NURSE

Sorry, honey, I've been outside in that hall for several minutes now, doing paperwork, and the only person who was near your room was that nice gentleman who was just visiting you.

NATHAN

So, you didn't hear her?

RANDOM NURSE

I'm afraid not. It's possible that she ducked into someone else's room when I wasn't looking, but we really have to be going, dear.

NATHAN

(Sighing.)

Must have been my imagination.

Random Nurse helps Nathan out of bed.

As she's doing this, Sunset shows up in the doorway for a second before disappearing.
