An Excerpt from "Beauty & The Beast: For Pity's Sake"
[Okay, I admit it's schloky. But, remember, we are talking rough draft here.] BEAST : The journey went well, then? BEAUTY Yes. As if my own Jasmine were herself enchanted. (meaningful look) BEAST :(smiles) There was something special in the gifts I gave you. It guided your mount and gave you protection. BEAUTY If my father or I had not come, would you truly have struck him down, no matter how far away? BEAST : Yes. That was the judgment. BEAUTY Then you are a man of great power. BEAST : Power is not the same thing as omnipotence. One may be powerful in many things and yet helpless in the very attributes he deems most important. BEAUTY I see. A woman may be as lovely as a sunrise, yet without a dowry she may never find a match. Or she could be wealthy as a queen, yet if she were lacking a kind heart, no one would find her worthy of marriage. |
