My script is The rumors of Grafton City are alive with the talk of a notorious master thief, known only as the Grafton Ghost. While stealing from a prominent house, the Ghost falls for the beautiful girl who lives there. But even as he charms his way into her good graces, he pulls off several audacious heists that earn him the wrath of a corrupt city judge, who is hell-bent on tracking him down and ending his thieving career – and life – for good. The judge may be beaten to the punch, however, because a mysterious virus is slowing bringing the thief down from the inside out. And suddenly he is caught in more ways than one...
  An Excerpt from Stolen

EXT. THEATRE DISTRICT – A LITTLE LATER

Tabian walks through a busy street. He enters a small building displaying the name “Grafton Theatrical Society Museum of Theatrical History”, dodging the ADMISSIONS ATTENDANT by sticking to the far side of a large group. While the attendant is busy counting up the money for the group, Tabian moves casually inside.

INT. THEATRICAL MUSEUM

Tabian walks through a few rooms of memorabilia in glass cases or on fancy pedestals with guard ropes surrounding them. He pauses at one display case – a rainbow sash with bits of gold thread woven throughout – for several long moments, looking it up and down. Then he glances at a TOURIST COUPLE on the other side of the room and moves on to a nearby exhibit.

HUSBAND
I didn’t know Edna Klasey starred in the original production.

WIFE
Oh yes, dear, didn’t I tell you? She had that sweet musical number at the end of act one, I saw it when I was a girl…

The couple leaves the room, leaving it empty except for Tabian, and he glances after them. Then he glances at each of the two doors, and finally back to the sash.

Cut to:

EXT. THEATRE DISTRCT, OUTSIDE THE MUSEUM

A WOMAN runs up to the admissions attendant, shoving other people out of the way.

WOMAN #1
Sir!

ATTENDANT
Ma’am you’ll have to wait your turn--

WOMAN #1
(Over)
You have to come see this, Queen Sonneh’s sash from "The Aura Dance" is gone!

ATTENDANT
It’s what?

WOMAN #1
It’s gone!

The attendant hurries out of his booth and follows the woman, who is running back inside to show him.

WOMAN #1 (CONT.)
Stolen! There’s a note in its place – the Grafton Ghost!

The people in line begin to talk in shock.

WOMAN #2
The Grafton Ghost?

MAN #1
He’s here?

MAN #2
He’s stolen again--

WOMAN #3
Good heavens, the Grafton Ghost!

MAN #3
What did he take?

The news spreads quickly outward through the crowd, down the street in both directions. About half a block down the street, two gentlemen hear the news.

GENTLEMAN #1
No, here?

GENTLEMAN #2
I read about him in the paper last week. Never leaves a trace save for a little trademark calling card.

GENTLEMAN #1
What could he want here? Is no place safe?

GENTLEMAN #2
Not likely. Not if he’s half as clever as the rumors I’ve heard. He could take your hat off your head and you wouldn’t know it until you walked indoors and went to remove it. That’s why they call him the Ghost.

GENTLEMAN #1
I’ve got to see what he’s taken.

The gentlemen hurry off towards the Museum, revealing Tabian leaning casually against the wall behind where they were standing. He looks after them for a few moments before standing and walking away from the commotion. As he walks by the CAMERA, a brief glint of gold and purple comes from his midsection just before he lets his shirt fall back down to cover it. He is wearing the sash under the shirt.

Tabian walks calmly through the mass of surprised, gossiping people, unnoticed. He smiles to himself and pulls an apple from his pocket, biting into it.
