An Excerpt from Last Flight To Mascot

It is several months after the global catastrophe known as The Day The World Ended. An enormous Qantas Airbus A380-900 'Superjumbo' loaded with almost 900 desperate and terrified people has escaped from the war-torn United States. Initially, the Superjumbo was going to land at the heavily-fortified RAAF Base Richmond, on the far western outskirts of the ruins of Sydney - but during the second half of its flight, the airliner has been badly damaged and may only just reach land. As a result, 'Plan C' is enacted from RAAF Base Richmond - take control of what used to be Sydney's Mascot International Airport, hold it until the Superjumbo can land there, get everyone off the ‘plane and - most importantly of all - escape from the airport as fast as possible. Why? Because the former gateway to Sydney is now a gateway from hell. The airport will certainly be attacked by thousands of Ferals – the crazed and savage who infest what used to be the surrounding suburbs. And the airport may also be attacked by ghastly horrors from the nearby waters of Botany Bay…
