An Excerpt from Fractured Lives (Working TItle)

Page 1

Panel 1: It’s an empty street, there’s a single street light. A woman is walking underneath it. She is wearing a cloak, and just the edge of it’s catching the light.

No dialogue

Panel 2: It’s a close up of the woman’s hands. She is adjusting the buckle of the cloak.

No Dialogue

Panel 3: You see the back of the woman’s head. She is looking over her shoulder. Her long dark hair is peaking out.

No Dialogue

Panel 4: A profile of the woman. Her eyes are hidden.

Narrator: There was once a little girl. A very bad little girl…

Page 2:

FLASHBACK

Panel 1: From the child’s POV. You see the back of her head and torso. A small child is pulling one the sleeve of a large man. You can only see his arm hanging over the edge of the armchair. It’s clear the man is asleep, dead or very drunk buy the limpness of his arm.

Girl: It’s here…

Panel 2: A arm moves into frame, a hand cupping a tanker.

Man: Let it come. There’s nothing that can hurt me.

Panel 3: A shot of the door. It’s wooden and looks poorly taken care of. There’s a puddle of water on the ground.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

Another man: Let me in there Tod.

Panel 4: Blackness

Narrator: Who wanted nothing more then to get anyway from a very very good man.

Panel 5: Lower half of a profile. A grizzled unshaved beard.

Tod: Yeah. Whatever…

Page 3:

Panel 1: The silhouette of the women earlier. Her head is hung low.

Voice: What did I tell you about coming here?

Woman: I-I’m sorry. I…

Panel 2: A close up of the woman’s face. She looks panicked. Her eyes are wide with fear. Beginning of tears in her eyes.

Woman: I didn’t have a choice. I had to get away. I had to!

Panel 3: You see what is surely the slow careful smile of the still unseen man.

No Dialogue

Panel 4: From behind the man you see his hand resting on her shoulder. As if in comfort. She is looking away from him a handkerchief held up against her cheek.

Man: There now don’t be afraid. You came to the right place. But now…

Panel 5: A shot of his foot stepping towards her.

Man: for…

Panel 6: A shot of him leaning in for a kiss. You still can’t see his face. But you can see his hair, which is a curly in a limp sort of way.

Man: payment…

Page 4:

Panel 1: It’s raining. You see a heeled foot (a Victorian shoe) half way out of a puddle of water. Water is flying everywhere.

No Dialogue

Panel 2: It’s the woman, this time she looks slightly younger. She running, looking over her shoulder. There’s a cut on her cheek, it’s bleeding. Her hood is down.

Narrator: But sometimes the bad girl just can’t get away.

Page 5:

Panel 1: You see a shot of her legs. They become twisted. And are dangerous close to the ground.

No dialogue

Panel 2: The woman is on the ground. Her hands over her face.

No dialogue

Panel 3: Full body shot of her on the ground. A smoke like darkness is closing in.

Page 6:

Panel 1: The woman is laying flat on her back. She’s clearly confused as to what is going on. Her long wavy hair crowns her face. You see back of the man’s head.

Woman: What happened?

Panel 2: You finally see the man. In profile. He’s holding out a hand to help her up. He has a charming smile on his face. A warm look that contradicts everything up to that point. There are standing in front of iron fence, behind it is white.

Man: You passed out. Here let me help you up.

Panel 3: Focus on the the woman. She is holding the hand of the man. The other is propping herself up. She’s wearing gloves.

Woman: Uh… Thanks.

Panel 4: Shot of (focus on) the man, still in profile. The woman is not yet sitting up.

Man: Now – what did you say your name was again?

Panel 5: The woman smiling, looking up at the man.

Woman: Rosaline Hart.

Man: Well Rosaline-

Page 7/8:

From behind the two characters, who are both looking up at the magnificent house. It’s on the top of a hill, surrounded by white. The man is holding out his hand. Rose is looking up at the house.

TITLE: Fractured Lives (Working title)

Man: Welcome to the Hotel.

Page 9:

Panel 1: There is a close up of the window seal. The are three or four bird on it.

Panel 2: Full page of a four curtain bed. Rose is sleeping in it. There is a tall window with birds on it, next to it looks to be a small child.

BIRDS: Chirp Chirp

Page 10:

Panel 1: Side upper view. Rose is waking up on the large bed, her head is deeply sunken into the many pillows on the bed.

Panel 2: Shot of the child. You can't be sure if it’s a boy or a girl. The child is not wearing a dress, but suspenders common of the time and pants. However the child has oddly shaped ears and a tail.

Child: Sleep well miss?

Panel 3: Rose is now sitting up the bed and is looking at the child.

Rose: Who are you? Where am I?

Child: Oh? Don’t you remember? Well I guess not. No time for that know. Master wanted me to take you to him right away.

Panel 4: Rose has one hand behind her head, as if rubbing her neck, there’s a confused look on her face.

Rose: Well I guess.

Page 11:

Panel 1: Close up on Rose’s hand. She tracing the number on her door.

Child: You’re lucky this place is normally pack-

Panel 2: The child is the forefront. Rose is in the back.
