GIDEON raises his hand to hit ANNA, but knocks the notes from her hand instead, they flutter to the floor like fallen leaves. ANNA stares at him, knowing. BEAT.
GIDEON
Anna! it makes no sense…
She crouches down, scrabbles on the floor to gather up the notes, stuffing some into her pockets, crumpled, full of air, like her thoughts. GIDEON makes last-ditch effort to regain control.
I’m glad your mother isn’t here to watch you throw it all away!
ANNA
You know what I’ve discovered in the last few weeks, Dad? When you lose someone, it’s just you and your own grief. Nobody really gives a flying fuck for anyone else’s! Not even your father!
