Which Novel Are You Adapting?

I CLAIM THIS FIRST POST IN THE NAME OF...DM. XD

Anyway, do tell us what novel or story you've written that you've adapted.
Unfortunately, yuo can't adapt a novel or story written by someone else...of course, we're all chomping at the bit to adapt the last Harry Potter book, just knowing we all could do better than Mike Newell and his artistic license did with GoF. XD

Anyway, I'm a strange duck. I'm not adapting my novel, but I'm writing the sequel to my 2006 novel.
I could probably do better with a script form then a novel form, though. XD

RE: Which Novel Are You Adapting?

I know it is technically against the rules, but I am going to be writing a screenplay adaptation of one of my favourite novels, Black Sun Rising by C.S. Friedman.

I have wanted to write it for ages. To punish myself for breaking the rules, I have to write 200 pages in a month, instead of 100.

RE: Which Novel Are You Adapting?

I'm also adapting my 2006 NaNoNovel, Waiting for Spring.

DM...I like the idea of writing your sequel as a screenplay. I'm curious to see how that works for you; same characters, differnet media. I hope you keep us all posted.

RE: Which Novel Are You Adapting?

Out of curiosity, where does it say you can't adapt a novel someone else wrote? I thought that was what most adaptations were? I can't find it in the FAQ.

Tom

I think therefore I am pretentious.

RE: Which Novel Are You Adapting?

Tom,

You can write adaptations this year, but last year you couldn't. It's new.

One of the rules explicitly states that adaptations ARE allowed. (I think it's number 4)

2007 Delilah (Won)
2006 Chinese Whispers (Lost)
2005 Obituary (Won)

Kay,

Adaptations are allowed this year. You are not breaking the rules, so don't punish yourself (Unless you want to!)

RE: Which Novel Are You Adapting?

I have to punish myself because I still think it is cheating in a way, at least for my crazy hardcore mind. Plus the novel I am adapting will need at least 200 pages (at pre-editting anyway....I tend to be a little too wordy hehehe.)

Will do. ^^
When I wrote my 2006 novel, I was actually picturing it as a movie, so it shouldn't be too different.

Also...OH. XD I thought it was against the rules to adapt something that someone else wrote.
In this case, I think I feel the need to adapt Harry Potter and the Dealthy Hallows along with my own script...XD

RE: Which Novel Are You Adapting?

Ah, welcome to the Screnzy! :D This is my second year doing this. :)
I don't actually remember whether they were busy or not. I'm wanting to think they were a little more active than this, but give it a little time.
At least it's not as bad as NaNo in the first week. The site is SOOO slow during the first week of October, I usually just give up and wait to update my profile the next week. XD
