Australian writers, make yourselves known!

Hello to everyone around Australia!

I know that we'll all be splitting off to our cozy little regional groups, but I thought it would be nice to kick off the general Australian forum with an introduction post for everyone.

To begin...

I'm Jean, and I'm the Sydney ML. I'm a 27 year old medical secretary. I live in Blacktown and work in Bondi. I'm married with a hyperactive dog and a neurotic cat.

I'm really excited about SF this year. I attempted it last year, but my personal life crashed and burned spectacularly. This year I'm back on the horse, and ready to write.

I'm hoping we get a good response Australia-wide this year. There's a lot of talent in this country, we just need to get the word out!

RE: Australian writers, make yourselves known!

Hi all! I'm the general ML for Australia so expect to see me trying to organise an online write-in for us all to meet and cheer each other on :)

I'm usually the Darwin and Elsewhere of Australia ML, but it seems I've been booted up to look after all of Australia this year! I was an ML last year for SF and loved it - best first year ever - and this year will be my 4th year as an ML for NaNoWriMo, as well as hopefully my 4th win ;)

You know what though? It doesn't matter if you've never attempted this (or NaNo) before, or even if you don't hit the 100 pages, because it will still be SO MUCH fun and you'll take something away from it :) And don't worry about not knowing what you're going to write about. I only know that I'm writing about sky pirates and that's it! Often I don't even know that much. I often lack characters, plots, titles and quirks and every year I've still made it - because this and NaNo too are both so addictive and fantastic ^^

If you're on the NaNo forums too, say hi ^^ I'm under the same username there too :) Hope to see a great turnout this year guys! :)

RE: Australian writers, make yourselves known!

Hi! I'm Jade, 15, from Canberra. I've never written a script before, preferring to stick to my novels and short stories, but after all the fun I had doing NaNoWriMo I'm joining in this April. Despite having lived in Canberra my whole life, I can almost always be found lurking with the Melbournian participants - I just can't seem to stay away from them ;)

RE: Australian writers, make yourselves known!

Hi, I'm Stormy, I'm a Brisbane girl.

Tried to do this last year, but failed. I think I've got a better chance this year, considering I'm already in a write-every-day frame of mind - I write serial fiction (over on wibblypress.net).

...no idea what story I'm going to write though.

RE: Australian writers, make yourselves known!

I'm Karina and I'm from Sydney. This is my second Screnzy and I did manage to finish writing my first ever film script last year.

This year I think I might branch out into a different format, but we'll see. I also have absolutely no idea what I'm going to write about this year, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Go Aussie Go! Lol.

RE: Australian writers, make yourselves known!

Hello! I'm Raine, from Sydney. I'm also new at Screnzy and probably still considered a newbie at Nano too (participated for the first time last year), but I decided this year to try out something insanely new... all by myself. I had companions last year at Nano but I doubt any of them will actually try a script.

Now that I've got myself introduced... good luck everyone!

RE: Australian writers, make yourselves known!

Hello! I'm Jess, from Lascelles, Victoria - this is my first time doing ScriptFrenzy. I usually stick to NaNo and stories, but I tried my hand at a script not that long back and discovered scripts aren't to be feared after all :)

Best wishes for this April!

RE: Australian writers, make yourselves known!

Hi, everyone!

I'm Darren, a 36-year-old Sydneysider who lives in Darlinghurst and works as a technical writer mostly in North Sydney.

You may remember me from SF! last year, and also the last two NaNos (I was a Sydney Co-ML for NaNo 2007).

I thoroughly enjoyed SF! last year - so much so that my screenplay was over 47,000 words long and took me two months to complete (a good-looking woman may have also tried to hit on me one night in a restaurant while I was writing my screenplay, but that's another story). This year, though, my effort should be much more sane.

* NaNoWriMo - to be determined

RE: Australian writers, make yourselves known!

Hi, I'm 21 years old, I'm from Adelaide and there isn't a regional group for me yet!

I've been writing scripts since I was 13 so this is my specialty area.

I did NaNoWriMo last year (it was the hardest task I've ever done in my life - I can't write novels!) but somehow I won. Now I'm giving Script Frenzy a go!

I usually write stage plays of about 60 - 70 pages long so this will be a challenge for me.

I am a University student, choosing to do this at the worst possible time as assignments and due days build up.

Anyways, good luck to everyone! Do Australia proud!
