Hey Guys,

I was just wondering for everyone doing an origional pilot whether you have decided to name it. Usually on tv shows they just leave the name as 'Pilot' so i was wondering if this is the norm.

Also, i just wanted to bounce my series title off you. I know you can't say if you'd watch it or not since there is no plot info, but oh well...

So it's called, 'The Dreamweaver'.

I know there is probably some 'adopt a title' thread around here, but i figured if you wanted to ask about your own title (ie: how it sounds, if its appealing) then this'd be the place to do it.

It really all depends on the person creating the show. I've heard of a few shows that don't have pilot as the name of the first episode (though I do love the fact that the first episode of Pushing Daisies is called Pie-lette). For example, the first episode of Buffy is called Welcome To The Hellmouth.

My series has a working title of Fucked Up crime Series, cos I'm rubbish at titles. The first episode is called We We Know Where We're Going...

My series name is 'Fat Man,' cause the stage name of the main character is Fat Man. I might change it by the end though. No idea what the episodes will be called. I'm bad with titles.

Remember, with you're Fucked Up Title, that your gonna need to know your audience. Obviously it would be a late night show, and not aired on a kids channel :D

I know, but Fucked Up Crime Series is the working title. I can't imagine that anyone will actually commission a show with that name. Well, except possibly HBO.

My series title is "Sub Rosa" and as my signature says the pilot episode is called "Down and Dirty". I believe episode 2 is going to be called something like "Welcome to the World". It's a crime drama seires of sorts...its not exactly a procedural heh...

I did a movie for last year's SF that I turned into my first two episodes after I finished since I really, really wanted to do a tv series and thought I'd lose the nerve if I didn't just do it. Since it's a college drama, I went with "Orientation" for the pilot and because I have a Latin major main character, I chose "Tabula Rasa" for the second.

For a second season (which, to be honest, I never thought I'd make it past episode six), it's currently a tossup between "Who Says You Can't Go Home?" and "Disorientation" for the first one. "Chasing Emmy" will be the second episode, named for one of my characters. I have absolutely no idea what that episode will entail, but I look forward to making as many subtle Kevin Smith references as I can.

My favorite part about all of this is that I've yet to decide upon a series title I actually like. It's driving me crazy.

Oh goodness, usually I have a great time with titles, finding one that just pops out and everything, but this time it's hard.

I am currently naming the series: "Glint of Fangs", but I'm not sure how that sounds, or whether it would entice peoples' interests. It is subject to change, and right now I don't really have any other ideas for what would work, nvm the actual pilot name. I'd probably just call it Pilot - or even "PIE-lot", which would work since Arien loves his pranks. But it wouldn't really do much overall.

I guess I'll just peruse the Adopt-A-Title board to see if there's anything I can use there. I like my titles to have "double-meaning" that's not just literal, but metaphoric as well. Yes--I'm insane.

I have the hardest time coming up with a title for anything because I also want there to be a double meaning- something literal but also very meaningful at the same time! So of course I don't have one yet haha.

What helps for me in deciding on a title is to get a fun logline, memorize it, and then try to think of all the words that describe my script. Sometimes I combine them and sometimes I look up synonyms to pick out the better word. The only thing that worries me is that my stories/scripts often live up to their titles. So long as I don't pick something like "Massive Hard Drive Crash" I think I'm good to go.

Good luck on picking a title. I'm going to have to revisit my favorite tv shows and figure out how they chose the titles they did: ie Psych, Monk, Scrubs, etc (there seems to be a trend there with single word titles)...
