Any other Arkansans here?

Surely there must be. I can't be alone.

Glad to see I'm not alone here.

RE: Any other Arkansans here?

LR here. Never written a script before, not sure if I'll stick this out b/c I don't learn quickly, but I have an idea and I need to do something to keep the midlife crisis at bay (meaning in Erikson's terms, something generative to oppose stagnation), so here I am.

I usually write humor but this time am going for sort of romance, a retelling of "Beauty And The Beast," nothing terribly creative but ya gotta start somewhere.

Good luck to everyone. And who among you kind fellow Arkies is available to be badgered for details that will be obvious to everyone but myself?

Welcome Gammy-the-slug (very unique user name, I like it). Anyway I can help, feel free to ask. But I'm not a pro at this by no means. But I have read a lot of books and wrote a script or two (nothing that has sold or won a contest tho).

Central Arkansas myself also. Don't know if I'll stick this out either because I tend to get a lot of writer's block when I am forcing myself to do things. But I have a few ideas to start with.

Wishing everyone else good luck.

Ophelia,

One thing that helps me is to break it down into chunks. If you're writing everyday this month, remind yourself it's only 4 pages a day. Doesn't seem so daunting that way.

RE: Writers' Block [was:Any other Arkansans here?]

I'm so far behind I thought I'd hit the boards and take a breather.

One thing I learned doing NaNoWriMo is: write the fun parts first. I don't know if it works on a script -- so far I've been doing mine in a linear fashion, not sticking to the outline but at least I have one if I get stuck ha ha -- but it might. If several pictures in your head simply cry out to be expressed, write those first and then write all the patching around them. Like floating drywall.

Also, Ray Bradbury said: Jump off a cliff and build your wings on the way down.

Good luck to all -- I see by the "ometers" I'm way behind, but I'm not giving up yet!

You've still got time, so just write and don't sweat the little stuff. Glad to see you're still around.
