Songs in Movies or TV

Hey!

I was just wondering, if during a certain scene, or montage, is there some way to indicate in your script which song you envision over it?

Thanks!

RE: Songs in Movies or TV

Actually you should just leave the tune in your head when writing the scene. Unless you are the producer, director, etc., there is no way to indicate that you wish to have a particular song played during a certain scene; Hollywood frowns on that big time as they also don't care for you to include camera angles, direction, etc.

RE: Songs in Movies or TV

Most people formatted it like they would action/dialogue. So it would say something along the lines of:

[SONG TITLE] plays in background.

.................SONG
.............[lyrics]

I did it like that (except without the periods). But if you're going to be selling the script, you might want to take it out. I simply found it fun to put the soundtrack in there.

I tried to be perfect, it just wasn't worth it.
I don't know how it got so bad.
It's hard to believe me, it never gets easy.
I guess I knew it all along.
