Hand Writing It |
Who here is handwriting their script?
I started seven days ago and managed to write up 53 pages. (Actually, 1o6 pages...but since 2 pages equal one typed page...) So yeah. If you're handwriting your script, drop a line. =)
We can all discuss how much our hands are cramping. x.X

53 pages! Your skill amazes me. I write parts of my script on paper when I'm away from the computer. But the most I can manage to write on paper is about a page. Being able to type quickly using the keyboard motivates me somehow. Strange, huh? XD

RE: Hand Writing It |
I've done some of my stuff on paper when I wasn't near a computer that had CeltX...but mostly I do it on the computer. I like the noise. Not that it makes much of a difference because my headphones are blaring into my ears anyway, but still, I guess I am not one to handwrite more than I have to :)
I applaud those of you that are doing it that way though.

I write my script first on yellow legal pads, then type them up later, editing as I go. I've gotten very used to writing on the pads, which is awesome because they're more portable, hideable (hello, writing in class), and just more inspiring for me. Plus, I've always got a backup copy in case my computer goes on the fritz.

I agree with liking having the backup copy. That is why i prefer doing things on paper. But, for Screnzy and Nano, I don't think i could do it. The sheer volume of things to type up really is a bummer. I have about 500 handwritten pages worth of stuff, and another 200 of typewritten stuff that I did on my typewriter. I'm lazy, so it won't get on the computer. Hence, why nano and Screnzy 've been typed.
But, i do do parts by hand, esp while in classes or meetings. I have maybe 10 pages of my script in my school NB and a moleskine. And, I think that handwriting helps me work out things. It wasn't until i sat down with paper that i worked out the kinks in my plot that were a major stopping point.

I've been handwriting it. And typing it up in celtx at the weekends. A handwritten page ends up being more than 1 page in celtx. Current handwritten page count is 70. (+5 pages I wrote on the computer, but my flow wasn't good so I switched back.) I reckon If I just typed it all up now then I'd have 100 pages. I hope to get quite a bit of it written up this weekend.
Hopefully I'll be updating my page count at the end of weekend.
Matt.

I usually handwrite during the afternoon, then type it up and try to get some more writing done on the coomputer after supper. So I've got quite a bit handwritten, but, except for parts that I decided didn't work as I was typing in, it's all on the computer.

Most of my major scenes were handwritten, sometimes several times, long before I started typing up this script for Screnzy. I'm not looking at my notebooks, though. Too distracting. Instead, I'm using index cards, including old ones I salvaged from previous failed attempts to write it.

The page count validator is up. and I've typed up the first 31 pages of handwriten. That and the 5 pages that I already wrote in Word gives me 57 pages in celtx plus the title page.
Still like handwriting the first draft though, as it just flows better. Plus I'm a terrible typist and end up correcting all my mistakes rather than pushing forward.

RE: Hand Writing It |
I'm a typist of blazing speed, at least on computers and electric typewriters. I type much faster than I write longhand. Besides, I know that if I scribble too long, my right hand cramps. I hate that. So whereas I used to scribble entire long project notebook entries, taking forever to do it, now I type whenever I can and save the longhand writing for where it's needed. Like index cards.
