The Obvious Mid-Screnzy Poll

Raise your hand if you keep getting distracted off the page count by drawing the characters or doing page layouts :-/

RE: The Obvious Mid-Screnzy Poll

Raises hand.

I haven't actually been drawing as much as I was last week, but I'm getting so excited about the layout of my pages in the begining of my story that I can't concentrate on what's going on later. Plus, I've been reading comic books as "research." I got Flash Gordon from the library yesterday and a book called Billy the Kid's Old Timey Oddities.

I really have to try to catch up on my page count 'cause I won't be around at the end of the month to finish.

RE: The Obvious Mid-Screnzy Poll

Guilty here as I'm sure my page count shows. I'm just having trouble separating the drawing from the writing. It doesn't help that I feel compelled to figure out the layout and panels as I write. I can write 11 full pages of text in a day. Five pages of script wears me out.

I don't think I'll finish by may. Oh well - I am going to finish the script no matter what.

Surprisingly, no. I'm perfectly aware that if I take any time off, I won't be finishing. I haven't even touched Photoshop this month.

I'll be spending the summer doing the drawings instead.

RE: The Obvious Mid-Screnzy Poll

Oh, yeah. Not much in the way of layouts, but lots of drawing. Plus some plot bunnies that have nothing to do with my Screnzy.

RE: The Obvious Mid-Screnzy Poll

Not really. Since I'm working from a first draft of a manusript I mark up that copy before I actually write it into format (editing a bit as I go, this'll be draft 1.5) and I might make a panel diagram if one is particularly crucial as I block on the manuscript, but work on my regular comic keeps me from getting the urge to draw on this project yet.

RE: The Obvious Mid-Screnzy Poll

Well since I cant' draw to save my life I am just scripting. But I do admit having to think about details to help me note later does through me off. Truth is I'm not worrying about panel layouts right now. I am working on the story and will polish up the formatting later. My big problem is length.

RE: The Obvious Mid-Screnzy Poll

My hand is up. I can't wait to start doing the pages, but I'm trying to hold off until I get the script polished. I'm pretty sure a bunch of scenes will change around when I edit. This doesn't stop me from sketching out my characters, though.

But amazingly, one of my drawing made me notice something about a character that inspired my plot. It tied up a loose end and yesterday I had my biggest day of thirteen full pages thanks to that drawing.

RE: The Obvious Mid-Screnzy Poll

*raises hand*

Actually, I'm drawing the illustrations for the "how to draw comics" tutorial I've been planning for the last several years. I figured it was the only way I could get myself to improve my drawing abilities enough to be able to draw my characters, since I've decided to do full character designs. Besides, I'm doing NaNoMangO this June.

Other things distracted me from writing, however. Nanely, my early-bird mother and brother dragging me off to do her business or watch his movies. I'm a night owl, and their schedules give me huge trouble. It was especially bad this week -- they woke me up early almost every day this week -- so I got thrown completely off.

But the real culprit was my archenemy, procrastination. Both my NaNoWriMo victories required major come-from-behind efforts. Looks like I'll have to do the same thing yet again... *sighs*
