Summer Writing Plans?

So what's everyone planning on doing this summer regarding writing? There's so many things out there...JulNoWriMo, SoCNoC, SuNoWriMo, NaNoEdMo, and a million other abbriviations that I don't know/remember.

I'm probably going to spend one month editing my Screnzy script, one month writing a new novel, and I'm not sure about the other. What are you all going to do? Maybe we can find some more challenges that work for us.

Happy writing!

Or happy relaxing, if you're sane enough to actually spend the summer NOT writing every single second.

But then again, who wants to be sane?

RE: Summer Writing Plans?

Some time this summer, most likely in late june or late august I plan to do a personal writing challenge where the intent is a 1000-3000 word story per day for one month. I'm looking to get sponsored and donate to charity through a site I will set up over the next month.

I'll need to figure out how to get/use something like the word verification program used on this and Nano. Then Hopefully I will be able to get an editor to look at them and help me tighten them up to submit each to a publishing media of some kind.

In the mean time I have to try and get my previous writings finished and ready for editing.

I've also got a fair number of Big Fun Scary Challenges going on over at Nano, and a seperate list going on over on 43things.com.

I am jobless right now and need to find some way of making money soon. So that sort of trips things up a bit. But I have until november for the BFSC and editing stuff. Then I can persue the rest at what pace I can manage. I would very much like to get all of these things checked off before nov but will settle for new years because that is when I started it all. I'm optomistic. After seeing what I could do during Nano and Screnzy.

RE: Summer Writing Plans?

I'm doing a 100000 word summer with a bunch of friends, going from June 1 to August 31. None of them have done NaNo or Screnzy before, so this should be interesting.

The great thing is, two of them are for sure Nanoers in the fall!

RE: Summer Writing Plans?

Most of my summer writing will be for my Upward Bound Bridge project on media manipulation and censorship, but I will still be writing for various projects.

RE: Summer Writing Plans?

This summer will be mainly about finishing my nano from last year. And If I do that I may even (shock horror!), plan for November.

RE: Summer Writing Plans?

Summer plans?

  1. Revise the Spanner script, do the layouts and character designs, finish at least up to the end of book 1, find a place to post my comics, and draw!
  2. Finish the second draft of '07 NaNo novel Bad Company. I hope to do it in June.
  3. Finish the first draft of '06 NaNo novel Black Science (currently replotting). Scheduled for July and maybe August.
  4. If I finish Black Science in July, revive hardly written '07 Screnzy project The Jennifer Theory in August as a side story/quasi sequel.
  5. Draw, draw, draw!

So that's what I have planned for this summer. My plans are set for the fall too, all the way up to NaNoWriMo and NaNoFiMo.

RE: Summer Writing Plans?

So I've decided that I'm doing a NaNoWriMo-in-June. I may do something else later in the summer, but this is enough to concentrate on for now. I'm going to be doing a modern-day rendition of the Bible story of Esther. So that should be interesting...

RE: Summer Writing Plans?

Well, now there's the new EditFrenzy with the 6/30 deadline, just the kick in the pants I need to revise my latest stage play. Plus I'm workshopping another play, and have a couple of non-fiction short pieces I need to get written. I'm also putting together a proposal for a non-fiction book. Busy busy busy ...

RE: Summer Writing Plans?

So far I've been in a writing school working on a stage play with my tutor which I am going to send to this local theatre company who likes to read new scripts. Besides that I might try getting articles together for a bit of spending money.

Nano 05 - I forget what I wrote but I know I failed it lol
Nano 06 - If Only - Mission Failed
Screnzy 07 - Chytelle - Mission failed
Nano 07 - The Mission - Mission completed
Screnzy 08 -

Sincerely Mindy

RE: Summer Writing Plans?

Hopefully, by the end of August, I'll have the proper first draft of my 2005 NaNo novel rewritten (since the one I wrote for NaNo? D: It doesn't make sense. At all. Really. Good characters - absolutely useless plot, and almost as poor execution). I'm already 10 000 words in, but I'm going to have to write like crazy to get the next 70k-ish that I think I need to finish the story.

Also, I'm outlining, planning, and getting a few other things ready to write as well. Hopefully, I can get myself in a good routine of consistently writing and planning everyday.
