Super-Human Writing‏

Calvin: You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood.
Hobbes: What mood is that?
Calvin: Last-minute panic.

Dear Script Frenzy Writer,

There are times for quitting, turning back, and giving in. This is not one of those times.

We have less than a week left before the curtain closes on Script Frenzy 2009. No matter what your page count, these last few days (including the weekend!) are for you and your script.

The world needs your story. But, more importantly, you need your story.

Even if you are on page one, I urge you to write like mad right now. If you don't cross the finish line this year, get as close to it as super-humanly possible. There is nothing like the last-minute sprint toward a deadline to create an adrenaline rush that will give you the power to lift cars, fight grizzly bears, and write ten pages a day. Next year, you'll know how much you really can get done, and you will win.

If you are past the halfway point, I believe you can finish. This means you need to write about ten pages a day for five days. It is an insane amount of writing. I know! But I saw participants on the site hitting 100 pages in the first couple of weeks, so I know it is possible. And they didn't even have that punch-a-great-white-shark-in-the-nose adrenaline that you (and I!) have right now!

No matter what your page count, do anything and everything you can to find pockets of time to write. All the little bits start to add up and make a big impact on your storytelling efforts.

Write a quarter of a page as soon as you finish reading this email. Write another quarter of a page while you're waiting for your coffee to brew. Stay up for a few extra hours each night and write in a quiet house. (You can always sleep in May!)

Make the absolute most of these final days!

You are almost there!

Good luck,
Jen
