The Beat

The numbers are in and I'm thrilled to tell you that our first-ever $250 Donor Day was a huge success! It was our biggest fund raising day in March. Ever!

I want to thank everyone who reached into their pockets and donated to our nonprofit.

It was an exciting day! (I mean, it isn't everyday that I get to "autograph" a notebook.)

If you didn't get a chance to snag a notebook, don't fret! All of our donation levels come with thank-you goodies.

From the sunniest seat in the office,

We have ten killer Moleskine storyboard notebooks adorned with a Script Frenzy seal and autographed by everyone here in the office. For today only, the first ten $250-and-up donors will get one added to their goodie package.

If you want a notebook, act fast! There are only ten.

We can't promise that plotting and planning out your script in this Moleskine will turn your script into a million dollar purchase, but a notebook filled with so much good scripty karma can only bring good things. Be prepared!

Thank you for supporting the Frenzy!

I hope you had a great time ringing in 2010 last week!

As of right now, there are just 84 days until we can all pick up our pencils and start slamming through 100 pages.

This year I've also decided to outline my script. In past years I have said I was going to and told other people to do it, but haven't actually gotten it done. Now that we're in a new decade, I'm feeling like this will be the year that I actually do it.

Join me! Outline! Develop major characters. Develop minor characters. Break down the plot. Read as many scripts as possible. And, get your friends to join you! Win rates are higher when you've got a friend or two by your side.

In the next weeks we'll be working away to

Hi Writers!

It is (finally!) that time of year. Somewhere between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve, I return to the land of Script Frenzy.

I'm on the hunt for Cameo contributors and want to know what questions you have.

Post your questions here:

(You can find past Cameos in our Writer's Resources.)

It is so lovely to be back! The planning. The plotting. I miss it so much after the April Fade Out.

Cheers,

Hey there!

I wanted to let you know about a play from Shotgun Players called The Farm. If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, find time to check it out!

Jon Tracy spins out an adaptation of George Orwell's Animal Farm, and I was amazed at the interpretation.

Script Frenzy is sad to report that on Tuesday, August 4, Blake Snyder passed away.

Snyder, candid author of Save the Cat!, Save the Cat! Goes to the Movies, and not-yet-available Save the Cat Strikes Back, shared his formula for successful screenplays through his books, workshops, and blog. He offered new and seasoned scribes succinct advice that helped guide the creative process of storytelling.

Blake generously donated his time to Script Frenzy scribes during 2008 when he penned the Cameo Midpoint—The Key to Cracking Any Story.

His fresh approach to craft was exceedingly helpful to me as I developed my first
