EXT. HARRY’S HOUSE - EARLY MORNING

Florian stands outside Harry’s window, throwing pebbles to get his attention. Finally, Harry pokes his head out of the window to see what it is, seeing Florian, he rolls his eyes and starts to shut the windows.

FLORIAN
Harry, wait!
(Harry continues to shut the windows.)
Please, Harry, listen.

Harry has shut the window and gone inside. Florian raises his voice. Passers-by are looking at him oddly, but he doesn’t really notice.

FLORIAN
Harry, I chose you!
(He waits for a response, but there is none. More people are giving him funny looks. He throws his hands in the air, then yells again.)
I told Gretel, Harry. I think I just about broke her heart, if she has one, but I don’t really care, Harry, I wouldn’t marry that girl for anything. I don’t want anything, Harry, just you...

Florian waits for a response but again gets none, and deflates. Suddenly, he is more aware of the people on the street and shuffles his feet awkwardly. Hopelessly, he bends and picks a pebble up off the street, and hurls it at the window. It bounces back and lies in the dirt. He sighs.

Just as he is about to give up, Harry runs out of the house and grabs him.

HARRY
You mean it? You really told her?

FLORIAN
I really told her.

Any thought of the passers-by has vanished. They are totally enraptured, in their own world.

HARRY
And- God, Florian- what did she say?

FLORIAN
She didn’t say anything. In fact, she hasn’t said anything to me since. I think she’s in shock.

HARRY
You’ve finally shut her up! Well done!

FLORIAN
I try.

HARRY
Oh, Florian- you really mean it? No going back and wavering? Just, straight up, you and me, and no Gretel and Princess Liselotte and whatever else getting in the way?

FLORIAN
Yes, of course I mean it.

HARRY
Oh, Florian...

They nearly kiss, but remember that they are in the middle of a public street. Instead, they just hold onto each other for dear life. Florian looks at Harry and shakes his head.

FLORIAN
If Greta wants me to marry that princess, she’ll have to use brute force!
