An Excerpt from Miss Match
A MOB OF TRAVELERS hustles about the station, going this way and that and hither and yon. JANYA FAIRFAX, a South Indian woman in her 20's, struggles through the crowd, carrying two suitcases that are about as big as she is.
She looks around for the terminal sign. The station clock reads 9:13.
JANYA
Shit.
She hurries off to the right.
CUT TO:
GEORGIA KNIGHTLEY, a twenty-something Afro-Caribbean woman, dribbles a basketball. A SMALL GROUP OF PRE-TEENS circles her.
GEORGIA
You think you can stop me?
KIDS
YEAH!
She runs, dribbling the ball towards the hoop, deftly dodging children. She shoots -
GEORGIA
YES!
KIDS
NO!
The ball misses. Georgia groans as the kids laugh.
She checks her watch - 10:30.
GEORGIA
All right, everyone, time to go back inside!
She hustles the complaining children back indoors.
CUT TO:
A tiny digital travel clock sits next to an ornate antique clock. Both read 10:59 AM.
EMMA WOODHOUSE, young, blonde, and bored, lies in bed and stares at them both. Watching. Waiting.
11 AM.
MR. WOODHOUSE (OS)
Emma?
Emma sits up. She's wearing a very pretty, very old-fashioned night gown. The robe she pulls on is equally antique.
EMMA
Coming!
