Introduce Yourself! |
Hi everyone! If you were here last year or you've done NaNo in the past three years, my name will be a familiar one. I'm Diann and I am the Municipal Liaison for the Inland Empire. Yes, that's one me for all of Riverside AND San Bernardino counties.
I have big plans for this April and I'm looking forward to meeting some of you and hearing about your adventures in script writing! I think I'm doing chick lit again but my Magic Eight Ball (R) is still a bit hazy on that. For those who remember my co-ML Sara from NaNo, she's still in the Ukraine, living the high life and trying to broaden minds. I've tried to convince her she can write her masterpieces anywhere but we'll have to see if I've succeeded in brainwashing her.
There will be a kick-off party before April begins. I don't know where or when yet but will post more before the actual party. I have a meeting scheduled with the Temecula Public Library on Saturday. They're interested in working with us for SF and NaNo which is very exciting!
Anyway, here's the thread: check in, let us know who you are are, what you're writing, where in the Inland Empire you're located, and anything else you care to share.
Can't wait 'til April!!

RE: Introduce Yourself! |
Hooray, Diann! I'm so excited for SF this year. I'm gonna do it this time. 100 pages sounds way more doable than 20K words! (Which is funny since 50K in November is a breeze...)
Anyway, a Kick-Off party sounds like loads of fun. This year I'll be living in the OC when Script Frenzy actually rolls around. It's true. I'm leaving the IE. But I will always consider myself part of the IE region, so I'll still be crashing the party. As long as I can make it. Life's pretty busy these days, but I'll do what I can.
I'm writing a noirish type script this year. I have the idea in my head for the film, and I'm planning to direct it as a no budget feature either later this year or sometime next, so I'm really excited about it and keeping it simple. The good thing is the no budget idea allows the film to be more talky, which takes up more pages.
All for now, but I'll check back in again soon!

Howdy y'all.
I'm Kim, I'm still in the mountain. No idea what I am writing. A knitting movie maybe?

Karen and Kim! Yay! That's a great start! Right now I'm thinking that Saturday, March 29th would be the best date for our kick-off. What do you think?

I can do that day only if it's early enough. I'm babysitting my 3-year-old nephew that night and I'm not even sure how early I'm supposed to be there. And they live in Glendale.
Good to see you again, Kim!

So 1 or 2 PM would work? There aren't that many of us so I will be flexible. Kimby, will you be able to trek down the mountain? Or, is there somewhere in between we can meet? Tom's Farms was kinda noisy but it there's a smaller group of us, it should be OK.
Let's discuss.

RE: Introduce Yourself! |
How many are coming and where are they all coming from? I'll be living in Anaheim as of this Saturday, so meeting a little farther north than Temecula would be beneficial for me. But if that doesn't work for everyone else I can either be flexible or I don't have to be there.

RE: Introduce Yourself! |
Howdy! I didn't think you were going to do this D! Karen-you can do this. You can.
I can't do the 29th. I have a family reunion that's a big deal, that weekend. I'm kinda' irked though this is in April. April is a big month, I have my birthday, Mom's birthday, ton of dog stuff, and I'm taking a comp test to be a CNA. But in June I have classes... Argh. Oh yeah, guess what: I'm becoming a nurse!

RE: Introduce Yourself! |
I can't not do this now that they've changed the format. I know stage plays aren't my deal but I'll figure something out.
As far as a kickoff, it's just us three - unless someone else pipes up. There's no secret list I know about... If you want, come to my house on April 1st and I'll cook dinner for us as our kickoff soiree. Disclaimer: this offer only applies to the current two posters in this IE forum. Does not include vegetarian or other special foods.
Or we can have a virtual kickoff and just write. Up to you all. Let me know what you want, ladies.
And any of you lurkers out there who would like to join in all the writing games, please do. We'd love to have your input.
Congrats on becoming a nurse, Kimby!

RE: Introduce Yourself! |
Can't you write 2 t.v. pilots? Figure the average half hour show is 22 minutes; average drama is 44 minutes. So that's quarter season on a comedy or a drama and change. That's not too hard. I'm trying to rationalize it to be simple.
As long as it's not the weekend of the 29th I can go, so the 1st works. Do you want me to bring something?

RE: Introduce Yourself! |
Is the 1st a Monday? If so, that will be tough for me. Maybe we will have to do a virtual kick off after all. But I'll make time for a write-in. And since May is considerably quieter, I'll try to be at the TGIO party, too. :-)
