Spec or Pilot?

Hey all you TV Scripters!

So I was just curious how many people are going to be writing spec scripts for Screnzy this year and how many are attempting pilot scripts?

Personally, I'm doing a pilot script. I'm pretty excited about it. I still need to get to know some of my characters and what not but obviously that comes with time and writing. So what about everyone else?

RE: Spec or Pilot?

Pilot. I've had an idea for a TV series that I wanted to write for a little while now, and when I remembered about Screnzy (and learned it was pushed up to April) I realised it was the perfect vehicle to get me started. 'Cause otherwise, I probably would never have written it.

So yeah. I'll be doing the pilot, and then part or most of the second episode. But I won't stop at 100 pages - I'm going to keep working all of April, and see how far along I can get.

RE: Spec or Pilot?

Brilliant! Yeah I figure I should be able to hit 100 pages in April with the pilot episode and episode 2. I want to write a full 22 episode season but I certainly won't finish all 22 in April (that would require no sleep and neglecting classes, homework, papers. Lordy I'd fail out of school).

What's your series about?

RE: Spec or Pilot?

I'm thinking of doing a pilot as well. I wrote one a few years back for a tv writing class I took in college and it was a lot of fun. I have always wanted to try and write a spec script though.

Pilot/episode 2 of a series.

RE: Spec or Pilot?

I'm attempting a pilot script. I've got the idea, now I just need to come up with the rest of the characters. More their names than anything. I'm off school today for a concert I'm in, so I've got a lot of free time. Perfect time to plan.

I can't wait to start writing now that I've got an idea. 18 days is so long!
