Welcome All!

Hi there Sydney (and surrounding areas)! Are we all ready for Script Frenzy 2008?

For those of you who are new around here, welcome! If you've done NaNo before you know basically what to expect from SF. If not, you're in for a fun ride.

For those of you who were here last year, welcome back! You may remember me as your somewhat inefficient ML from 2007. I do apologise for the lack of organisation last year. I only found out about SF about three days before it began, which didn't leave a lot of time to arrange things. Then I lost my job, and my marriage was on the rocks, causing me to pretty much disappear mid-month.

Not this year! This year I have IDEAS! And PLANS! Are you scared yet?

We'll be starting off with a kick-off meet-up over the weekend of 29-30 March. There will be meet-ups or write-ins every weekend in April. I'd like to try and organise at least a couple of mid-week events as well, but that will be based on whether you guys want them.

In the meantime, these are your forums! Go wild, get to know each other, have fun!

RE: Welcome All!

Howdy! Glad to see that there's a bit of activity on the forums already. I'm Cass, and I'm actually from the east coast of Canada, but I'm here in Sydney on exchange for one semester (going to Macquarie Uni). I was an ML for Script Frenzy last year in my home region (which contained exactly three other writers), and I've been MLing for NaNo for about five years now.

Looking forward to meeting up with other Script Frenzy folks, though you might have to humour me when I come crying to you for directions on how the hell to get to X on the bus.

RE: Welcome All!

Well, seeing as it's in April this year I am unprepared. I might finally get my sister into one of these crazy month-long write-a-thons this time. We're always thinking about things to do together and it would make sense. After all, we didn't end up writing an album during February!

...and even though I'm unemployed at the moment I am kind of hoping to have a job by the time April rolls around. But whatever. Life takes a backseat during Screnzy!

And Cass, while I don't go to Macq U (or Club Macq or just plain Macq or whatever you want to call it) I do live nearby and catch some of the same buses so can help with those questions if no one else who ends up in this forum steps forward. =)

RE: Welcome All!

What's all this about preparation? You were supposed to be prepared? I didn't even know that. Maybe it's just because I'm kind of expecting a plot to somehow pop up and resolve itself? Not sure. xD

Hello there, I'm a first-timer Screnzy who just completed her first Nano last year. I have absolutely no idea on how to write a script, not to mention the fact that my character's dialogue mostly consists of monologues and musing to themselves, but I'm hoping that something might magically change when April comes.

Looking forwards to meeting other people from Sydney, but I'll probably have to skip out on all the write-ins. If it's not school work in the way, it's because my parents won't let me out. Apparently I'm still not old enough for independence. xD

Ah, well, I still have the forums?

Good luck in advance for this year, and, um, I have no idea what else to say?

RE: Welcome All!

Afternoon, all! The name's Xuan. Seventeen years old, NaNo participant since 2005, Screnzy participant since last year. Currently studying Psychology and Primary Teaching at UWS (boooo, I hear you all saying).

Have a fair idea of what I'm doing, but it'll probably change the night before and I'll come within a hair's breadth of spontaneously combusting. Weekend meet-up on the 29th/30th sounds A-OK, any ideas where?

RE: Welcome All!

Yay! we seem to be sadly lacking in Syd Screnzy-ers... but that will change, right?

I'm only 13 (nearly 14! Yay!) so I probably won't be able to go to any gatherings, but there's always hope. Any more info on these top secret meetings of yours???

I discovered NaNo in December (grr) so I hope that Screnzy will prepare me for the madness :)

Any one else in highschool?

RE: Welcome All!

I was in high school last year. Finished my HSC in 2007, now onto bigger and better things at a crappier university. :) Although six years of high school was more than enough... Year 12 was best. W00t.

Are you in Year 8 or 9? Junior years at high school are the most blissful academically. Wait until you get to Years 11 & 12, then it'll be "PLEASE KILL MEEEE!!11~" :P

RE: Welcome All!

Hi, everyone!

I'm very much looking forward to SF! again. I thoroughly enjoyed it last year, and I'm currently planning this year's screenplay-to-be.

I'm also looking forward to meeting other Sydney SF!ers at meet-ups and write-ins and whatever throughout April.

RE: Welcome All!

Allo Allo!

Glad to be a part of yet more writing freakishness!!!

Killraven glad to know there will be a friendly NaNo face in the crowd. Although i failed miserably at NaNo last year i fully intent to not fail so bad at scripting.

So, looking forward to typing madly along side, now where's that calendar thingy for membrin' stuff?

RE: Welcome All!

Having left previous attempts at NaNoWriMo incomplete (or even unstarted) I am this year very optimistic about utterly failing ScriptFrenzy in a similar fashion.
