I wonder if you're experiencing one of the login/remember me issues. Next time you come to the site, if it has the 'Sign Up' button on the screen, there should be a login button, too. Click the login button. Does it automagically log you in, without you having to enter your name and password?

If so, try clicking the Log Out button. Then, if you need to do some signing up, you should be able to click the Sign Up button without issue. I just tried this very thing and it worked alright for me.

You get a an access denied when you click the signup link if you're already logged in. There's a known bug that causes you to appear to be logged out when you're really not... if you already have a username and password, then you don't need the sign up button anyway. :)
