Scripts and Plots: Have you figured out your plot yet?

Has anyone figured out their plot yet?

Today I lamented that I did not have a plot, nor did I have an inkling of an idea as to what might work as a 100 page script. Last years script had tornadoes at every turn. I wanted something more laid back. And, something that did not involve children running away! However, that did not happen. Destressing won out.

My plot? Two children run away because of boredom, discover a castle thats a school similiar to Hogwarts meets The Tomorrow People. But, it has more secret passageways and secret spots for listening into lectures than Hogwarts would ever have. I decided that such a plot would have just enough tension and wonder to destress me.

Actually, I'm looking forward to it. I've already begun to design the school, and am finished with the real broad outline of the plot. All I need to do is write the detailed outline, finish the designing of the school, and I'm ready.

What makes this story different from all my other stories about kids running away, is that no authority figures were fools. No parents died, no one denied geeks the right to skip to grades. Nothing negative happens. Totally free of stress. Also, this script will so NOT be saleable! LOL My last script had way too much violence in it! Too stormy both in the weather and in the relationships. This current script will be the total and complete opposite of last years scripts. LOL

RE: Scripts and Plots: Have you figured out your plot yet?

Yeah, I figured out my plot the other day. I'm either going to make a tv movie script based on story I wrote, or I'm going to continue to work on my scripts for my comic writing.

Thats cool! What was the story about?

I love your '# of hours spent procrastinating with video games'. LOL I can so relate. Dynasty Warriors is my down fall. I play it until my thumbs hurt. Its my fave game to play. Harry Potter's Prisoner of Azkaban. What is your fave video game? I play PS2. What do you play?

Yea, I have a couple outlines that I could use, but I would like it to be fresh. I was thinking of something where a kid has exactly the same medical problems as his dad. It's a race against time when his dad contracts a deadly disease and it's only a matter of time before the kid does. Sound Good?

Ideas are welcome.

That sounds like a wonderful idea for a script. I did a hospital/adventure script last year. It was surprising how much easier it was then writing my usual novels. Hospitals just suggest dialogue I guess. :D

I'm not picky about how my name is spelled. :D

I can't wait until April 1st! I spent part of the morning planning the school classes. I've already mapped out in my head how the school is going to look.

RE: Scripts and Plots: Have you figured out your plot yet?

Am I the only one using the worksheets?

So far, my young Knights Templar wannabe is riding through the forrest. Only he doesn't know it is an enchanted forrest on the Spring Equinox. This means the herbs are releasing a magical scent that ensorcels him. He stops for a nap and dreams of the Fairy Queene who he has now fallen madly in love with and must search the forrest for her at all costs.

When he finds her playing her harp in the most enchanted place of all, he is affronted by a giant who protects her. They have words much like the tv wrestlers, but medievally. The giant is big & strong. My knight is young and foolish. How will it go down? Check out your copy of The Canterbury Tales...

Then, somehow, someway, he wins the attention of the Fairy Queene, who promises to give him the time of day if he goes on a quest to prove his devotion. She insists on sending one of her Ladies in Waiting - a young lady who plays harp, weaves flowery garlands and loves dancing in twirly dresses.

Their first adventure involves a giant medusa like "worm woman" with a scorpion stinger tail and hundreds of her babies. How will they ever survive? (Check out the Fairy Queene by Edmund Spenser)

Oh, there's a dwarf in there somewhere. I'm not sure what kind of dwarf to make him - whether he be more Toilken or D&D? Watch to find out. He's essentially like Donkey in Shrek.

After the "worm woman", they are taken in by a kindly monk who lives in the caves (or is he really??? (Check out the Fairy Queene)

Eventually he reaches the dragon whom he must kill to complete his quest. Will he really do it? He's the end of his kind.

Somewhere along the way, the charm of the forrest ensorcellment is replaced with a caring, affectionate love for the Lady in Waiting. And then of course, ends with a truly fairy tale wedding officiated by the Fairy Queen herself.

The End :)

RE: Scripts and Plots: Have you figured out your plot yet?

Mmm, I wrote a little plot to get me started. Unfortunately I haven't thought of an ending yet. Oh the agony!

"A news reporter needs to get a good story right away - or else he'll be fired. Unfortunately, he always seems to get to the stories too late.
He has an idea -- to dress up as a Frenchman and go around seeking donations for a local orphanage. The reporter, obviously, has exclusive rights to this particular story, and is the only one able to report on it.
It's instantly a hit -- as people wish to know who the Frenchman is, and where he came from. However, the public quickly becomes bored, and the reporter needs a twist.
He decides then to create a scandal. The Frenchman, all this time, has not been delivering the money to the orphanage, and has been keeping it for himself. This story has high public interest, however the reporter, being the only other person to keep in contact with the Frenchman (as the reporter is the Frenchman) must work with police in order to track down the Frenchman."

The other question: Will it equate to a 100 page story?

RE: Scripts and Plots: Have you figured out your plot yet?

I'm not using the worksheets only because I did this last year and wanted a nice thumb twittler of a script. I'm trying to make sure that my script's drama level never gets above mediocre, and is more of a good mystery meets comedy. So, I'm focusing all of my energy on writing and not looking at any how-to's or anything. Last years research on how-to's naturally put my brain in drama mode. LOL It was fun though.

I love everyones plots! They sound really interesting, both the fantasy and the french mystery/drama with a twist.

Will it equate ot a 100 page story? If you keep Bourne Identity Serial in mind, and what they did, it will be. Here's a link to the actual script.

Bourne Identity

Simply Scripts has the best organization to find almost any script your could look for. It's how I found the above link.

RE: Scripts and Plots: Have you figured out your plot yet?

OK. My plot is evolving. As I read more of the Holy Grail stories and such, I've decided that my Dwarf is actually Oberon in disguise. There is an evil hermit monk making copies of people and secrets abound!

Anyway, I went back and re-wrote my first few pages. Now the secrets can start to pique the interest of my readers. :)

Has anyone else found that this has happened to them?
