Dancers?

Any other dancers out there? I have a dance concert in April this year, go figure. Actually, I had one last november too. What are the odds? Anyway, it will be interesting trying to organize my dance schedule with writing time... Oh, and what type of dance do you do? I like ballroom, latin, swing, ballet, jazz, modern... mostly I just really like dancing. :D

RE: Dancers?

I'm not really a dancer, but somehow I managed to get through the auditions for Rock Eisteddfod (not sure if you've heard of it or not. It's this really big, really competitive dance comp between a whole range of schools). So yeah, apparently the Rock Eisteddfod is usually a little later in the year and this year we have about half the time that we usually have (my first time, so I wouldn't really know). That means that I'm going to have my butt worked off in dance practise while also trying to write my graphic novel script. And keeping in mind the fact that I'm really not a dancer. ^^'

I must be at least ok, though, to have gotten in. LOL

RE: Dancers?

I've done 6 months of ballet (couldn't stand it), 3 years of modern, and coming up on 3 years of irish step.
Yes, I know, my dance has been rather eclectic.

RE: Dancers?

yay for the modern! So many people hate modern... or at least in my family. My sister did ballet and jazz, so my parents and her aren't big fans of modern. I mostly dance at my high school, and my dance teacher is really into modern, so we do more of that than anything else. I think it would be really cool to learn irish step, but I would get made fun of (by my family, the dance snobs) to no end. If you have any interest in ballroom, I definitely recommend Fred Astaire, if there are any of his companies around you. It's expensive, but really good quality. And I think it is good that you've had a mix. I think you shouldn't be allowed to judge a different type of dance until you've tried it with an open mind. but that's just me... sorry , I kind of rambled a bit.

Oh, and just a guess, do you like Wicked?

RE: Dancers?

I haven't been dancing for a few months (no driver's license combined with no parter equals no dancing for me), but I've been doing swing dancing and lindy hop going on four years now. The closest place I can practice is about 45 minutes away and only open on Saturday nights... *sigh* I really do enjoy it, it's one of the best stress relievers in the world... Mmm. I'm going to beg my father to take me this weekend...

RE: Dancers?

Oh wow, I'm so jealous. I've wanted to learn to do lindy hop for SOO long, but I haven't found anywhere close that teaches it. Dang, I'm really jealous.
