Plot realism question - Lancashire vs Yorkshire from the Lancs side

Hi there.

Anyone out there living in Lancashire? I'm thinking of having my MC be from Lancashire, and maybe having a bit of a prejudice against people from Yorkshire. Not being from Lancashire myself ... to what extent does that still go on? How seriously would it be taken?

RE: Plot realism question - Lancashire vs Yorkshire...

As someone who lives in Lancashire & works in Yorkshire - I'd say there was very little. OK, there is the occasional good natured jibe - but nothing more.

Of course both sides are still united in the loathing of "Southern Jessies"...
;-)

Even then, that is usually confined to people from London and the so-called "home counties" (a despicable name - since it implies that all other counties are not part of the English "homeland").

I agree with Frogfall, there's not much. And again it's more predujice towards the Southerners. I remember my mum having an argument with a man in a forest about this. Twas very odd.

I also agree, from my experience it's non-existant, Lancashire and Yorkshire seem to get on well! I'm a Lancashire lass! :)
