What were you in?

What operas/musicals/light opera/chorale/play with people singing have you been in?

I have almost too many to list, but here's off the top of my head, in no particular order:

(Some of these roles are technically male; that is, the character is male but the part is a mezzo soprano or alto part, and usually sung by a woman. And on the musicals, there's a few where the director deliberately switched up some of the roles, for the fun of it.)

Operas:

Hansel and Gretel (Sandman and chorus)
Orfeo ed Euridice - Gluck version (chorus)
Die Fledermaus (Prince Orlofsky)
Aida (chorus and dancing girl)
Tosca (chorus)
Amahl and the Night Visitors (cast as a villager in the chorus, but ended up covering King Kaspar when he was sick. Yeah, it's a tenor role, and yeah, I had to play with octaves and stuff. Great good fun!)

Musicals:

Phantom (a non sacked chorus member ;) )
Les Miz (chorus member -whore, villager, widow of the barricade, dancer at the wedding- but later upgraded to Eponine. And for the Halloween performance where roles were swapped Jean Valjean. I wanted to be Javert, darnit!)
Beauty and the Beast (I was in this one twice, once was one of the three silly girls in Gaston and a chorus member, but then I hit paydirt! I was Lumière!)
Chess (Florence)
Kiss Me Kate! (chorus)
Aladdin (Soldier)
Godspell (Mary Magdelen)
Spamalot! (It's traditional for people to play multiple roles in this one. In one show, I was a Laker Girl, Knight who says "Ni!", Sir-Not-Quite-Appearing-in-This-Show and the French Taunter's Best Friend. Since I was also the Lady of the Lake's understudy, I sang her for two matinées and a night performance. This resulted in a hysterical round of musical characters to cover the four people I usually played. Again, it was Great Good Fun!)

Okay! Your turn now! Who were you in what show?

RE: What were you in?

Wow, you're certainly a...prolific?...performer :) I haven't been in that many productions. I can only remember Bye Bye Birdie (Debra Sue), Honk! (Maureen), and (I was in the pit, so not sure if this counts) Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dream Coat. All musicals

RE: What were you in?

I've been part of the chorus in a bunch of shows, but nothing more than that. Grease, Music Man, Oklahoma! (wait - in that one, I actually had a "role": I was Fall-Down Girl. I got to fall down in pretty much every dance number. SO MUCH FUN.) There have been more, but no other titles come to mind at the moment...

RE: What were you in?

I've only ever been in high school musical as a chorus member really, but I had one line in a play - a shared line... with my twin sister... who hadn't tried out for a speaking part, when I had. The teacher couldn't understand why I was upset. It wasn't that I only had one line. It was that my sister had the line with me, by virtue of the fact that she was my twin sister. I was glad to have a line, but it really wasn't fair to people who'd tried out for a speaking role and didn't get one.

Anyway... the musicals I was in:
Annie Get Your Gun (a cowgirl and chorus member)
Damn Yankees (a wife for the opening song and then... regular chorus member)
Guys and Dolls (one of two blind "sisters"... although they had us dress as men, that's how we were credited in the program and a chorus member)

I've been in musical productions at my church as well, but most of those... other kids played the parts and I sang (again, in chorus. I don't have a solo voice) or did the speaking (this I can do alone), while they did the acting.

Never have been, and never will be, in a show as a performer, but did help direct a couple of productions of Les Miz.

RE: What were you in?

Wesley, it was a brain cramp...

It should have read: JC Superstar (Mary M) and Godspell (chorus)and I was never in the junior version. That was my sophomore year at university. Sorry for the confusion...
