B-movie or the next Cult Classic

I've never done a script before and just read my first script just within the past 3 days. I had to join on script frenzy though after waking up from a dream a few weeks ago.

I won't go into details but the dream brought about my scripts, a full length screen play titled "Zombie Dogs" and a short titled "Attack of the Killer Fruit Flies".

No, I'm not making fun of script writing at all!

I just love B-Movies and Cult Classics.

Being new to this, I don't know much about scripting (though I'm reading every vampire, zombie and alien movie script out there!) and I've not seen anyone else who is also doing a script of this sort.

Are there any B-Movie and Cult Classic script writers and/or fans out there?

It's okay, I'm writing Zombie Cheerleaders. Maybe my Cheerleaders can have your dogs as pets in a sequel to both movies at once!

I don't have a lot of knowledge on Fruit Flies, but we can chat about either anyway if you need someone to bounce ideas off of.

RE: B-movie or the next Cult Classic

Hooray for zombie dogs! I've got a zombie Rottweiler in my screenplay. (I'm having zombies lay waste to the nightclub where I used to bartend.)

I went to a B-Movie Film Festival last year with a fellow Frenzy and his girlfriend. The movies were godawful (as expected), but we did attend a few great workshops and get the opportunity to meet Tom Savini and Lloyd Kaufman (co-founder of Troma Films). (The info for this year's festival is here, just in case anyone is interesed.)

I'm thinking of mine as sort of a B-movie, although it's not as much so as the other idea I had. I haven't come up with a title yet, but it involves some sinister outer-space entity and a NASA cover-up.

I would definitely go see "Attack of the Killer Fruit Flies"! It really grabs me -- and I've always liked the Giant Bugs sub-genre. (... Are they giant? Or small, but very very feisty?)

Yeah, Kaufman is great; I'm not a huge fan of his movies, but he's very dedicated to making them and enthusiastic about getting people to make their own movies. He was kind of the inspiration for my Script Frenzy script last year, 'Teen Lesbian Nazi Zombie Apocalypse'.

In fact, I really must get a copy of his movie-making DVD, I should be on there somewhere throwing things at him :).

Oh yeah, Zombie Cheerleaders and Zombie Dogs together!
The cheerleaders can carry around toy poodles dressed in cheer outfits!

LOL it would be Zombie Posh!

RE: B-movie or the next Cult Classic

I was picking out names for my characters. I realized that I have to have a lot of them cus I got to kill off so many! With my main characters I'm killing off mostly men with tough guy issues going on. I feel odd though...shouldn't I be killing off a bunch of women?

I know I need one to trip over her own feet, one who is half nude, the dumb blond, the smart brunette, the girl friend, the girl who is afraid of everything, the one who sleeps around, the one who can't stop screaming, and the one who can't hear the heavy breathing of the killer who is right in back of her.

Am I missing anyone?

Have you picked out a Final Girl?

I think it's interesting that you're mostly killing off the macho types first -- maybe the end result will be that it's only the people who are neither too macho or too scared who can survive.

RE: B-movie or the next Cult Classic

Well, I do have a group of women in the movie. I thought that I would have the Lab lady be the MC of the movie but it is looking like there might be a battle between her and the woman at the first attack. At this point I have their names...they are the only characters with full names. Kathleen O'Dea and Linda Macannea.

I'm still not far into the story at all....just 12 pages done.

How are the rest of you doing?
