Check in time :)

How's everyone doing? I am behind, but learning that working with a writing partner is a tough job. Esp when it's your spouse. LOL

Anyone?

RE: Check in time :)

Since I just started this basically April 1, and doing an adaptation of a book I'd recently read, all I've done so far is start making a list of the characters and scenes that take place in the book. Once that is done I'll then decide what I want to keep for the movie storyline.

I thought Final Draft (the software I have) had a note taking system section, but it's index cards are more for when you are further along in your planning than I am at the moment.

I do have what I want for my opening scene in my head, and want to get that onto paper (or at least electronic paper) soon.

Good luck working with your spouse Alana. :-) Hope you two are able to work well together.

RE: Check in time :)

"Real life" got in the way for the first 4 days of April, during which not one word was written. I actually considered just passing for this month, but now on the 5th day the writing has started and it feels good.

I'm still getting used to the formatting for scripts. I'm using Zhura.com for it, so that it takes care of most of it. As I'm doing a script for a graphic novel, and not a straight-forward screenplay, I'm having to adjust what some of the formatting options to fit the style. I've been amazed how the formatting really stretches out how many words make how many pages. Yikes!

RE: Check in time :)

I tried using Celtx but got tangled in the instructional information so I decided to type away in MSWord and format it myself - much easier for my brain to understand. I've logged in only 4 pages but have several more handwritten that I need to type up.

I've never written a play before. When writing non-fiction or fiction, I can write directly on my computer but I'm struggling with the stage play formatting. I'm much better at handwriting the action and dialog and then inputting. It's a two-step process but better than no steps at all.
