This would be a GREAT script as no one has done a biopic on this yet. I would google Nick Berg + documentary and go through the selections from the different sites.
You will find a lot of articles going back to the incident of his televised death and also lots of conspiracy theories involving whether or not he was alive when it happened, CIA involvement to distract media from the abu-ghirab situation and more. I would include the different theories as expressed by different characters in your script.
-His Family/co-workers attempts to have him found/rescued before his death and their reactions when its aired. (Good drama)
-The Military/Washington's response, follow-up and discussions about how this event could be used in their favor to keep the public enraged at the terrorists and fuel their war on terror. Maybe a character trying to get to the "truth" of the matter whether it is real or a CIA mock-up for propanganda?
Also, I would create a separate through-line following Abu Moussab Zarkaui
and his motives/movements that led to this(as he was the one accused (took credit)for being the killer)
You can also finish up your pic with the US attack of his compound killing Zarkaui and his people. (That would be a great finish/ending for me!)Leaving your audience with a more satisfied feeling than just leaving them with Berg's demise. (Payback)
